Week 5, Part 3: Curious (OWBC)
Feb. 6th, 2022 06:38 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)

Hello, and welcome back to Lakewood! This time we're visiting the Curious OWBC. Let's dive right in!
The founder's spouse, Nervous, is hard at work at the robot bench. His husband Pascal already got his gold talent badge, and now it's Nervous' turn to work on that.

Meanwhile Pascal works on their youngest daughter's portrait for the Family Scrapbook bonus. Just by the easel is the servo that he just finished last week. It'll get activated as soon as I can figure out a name.

Two the three generation two girls, Bonita and Octavia, can be found in the kitchen chatting. Bonita is Pascal's alien daughter, and Octavia is the younger of Pascal and Nervous' common daughters.
Last week in the Curious household ended with a heir poll. Which was ages and ages ago, due to the very slow speed at which this BaCC moves. Anyway, it was a very tight one, it seemed to go from one tie to another. In the end, we were at a three-way tie, when
![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)

The middle daughter, Odessa, is found upstairs playing pool. She's got company too, Reina Capp from the Capp DITFT is over.

Octavia joins them upstairs, and is apparently shocked that her trick shot worked.

Apparently Octavia couldn't resist noogieing Reina, but she didn't seem to mind too much. The two of them became best friends, and Octavia's want for playing with Reina was fulfilled. The more you know huh?

It seems that Family sim Nervous wouldn't mind having another baby yet, but the chances of it happening are quite slim at this point. I have to say I'm relieved there was no lullaby, three are quite enough thank you very much.

Bonita had the want to sneak out with Melody, and Melody was happy to oblige.

Bonita took a little nap before her rendez-vous with Melody. She wasn't going to get much shuteye later on, so a little bit was better than none.

At 1 AM, Melody was outside waiting for her. Where she got that limo I have no idea, but Bonita was happy to jump on.

Huh, what's that? We seem to be missing a flamingo, whatever might have happened to it. Better fix that in the morning.

Bonita snuck back home and nobody stirred. She too headed to bed for a bit.

The next day after the kids were off to school, it was time to activate the servo that Pascal had built.

Meet Lakewood's newest resident, Thomas Curious! As he was initialized by Pascal, his personality matches Pascal's: 10/5/5/0/5 (Virgo). He also got Pascal's Knowledge Aspiration and his turn ons (Brown hair, Good at Cleaning) and turn offs (Facial hair). His LTW is to Become Education Minister, that seems to be a popular one recently.

Thomas had wants for a couple careers, so we checked those online. The Medical career was available, and that's unlocked in the BaCC, so we took that.

About three seconds after Thomas took the job, I realized that oh yeah, we're doing the now promotions for a generation thing. And the easiest way to do that? Nobody has a job. With Thomas' skills inherited from Pascal, it'd be hard to avoid promotions. So, Thomas called work and quit. Sorry, at least you got a bit of Aspiration from it.

Pascal finished Octavia's portrait. I quite like it, although I started wondering if I should have waited for her to be an adult, since she's the heiress and all. Well, no reason we can't do another one later. Now the only sim in the household who doesn't have a portrait yet is Thomas. I'm sure Pascal will get to that soon.

Thomas, what is it? Why are you smoking?
Thomas: "Not... feeling... too... good."
Hmm, I thought cleaning the shower should be safe, since it's not broken or anything. I wonder what happened.

Something definitely did happen, since poor Thomas had all his needs go red and had to go recharge. I'll have to keep an eye on this.

Time to hit Club Flamingo again! It's not supposed to just sit, plus even more importantly, Nervous gets wants to improve its level. My plan was to have Thomas come along, but since he suddenly didn't have any energy, Nervous came by himself.

Nervous got right to work and started selling the tickets. Lisa Ramirez bought one, and it seems she wants to prove her "bad customer" reputation wrong, as she also threw us a star.

Nervous could have used some help. He can't sell tickets and entertain customers at the same time. He had to to eventually quit DJ'ing to be able to attend to ticket sales. Regan seemed to enjoy dancing though.

Still, it was a pretty good session.

Jeff, that's not very nice! I think this is a sign that we should close up and head home for now.

When we got there, I remembered to buy the alarms that are now allowed. The OWBC rules don't allow for maids or repairmen though, so the Curiouses have to rely on their own work.

Pascal and Nervous took care of their needs, and while they were at it, Thomas took the chance to get to know each of them better.

Melody Tinker has been a frequent school bus friend in Lakewood, and today she came home with Octavia.

Unsurprisingly, she was mostly interested in Bonita, with whom she autonomously got together last time when we visited the Curiouses.

It was pretty convenient actually, as Bonita had a question to ask her. She has a big fat want to make it official.

Melody said yes, so these two are Going Steady now. <3

It seems that Donte Fortunato invited himself in. Bonita went to keep him company at the pool table for a while.

Meanwhile, the adults were hard at work. Pascal is working on Thomas' portrait and Nervous on his Robotics badges.
Oh yeah, the portrait reminds me: the flamingo I thought was stolen or something wasn't actually missing. Someone had just knocked it over and it wasn't visible because of the snow. So Thomas straightened it in the morning.

Speaking of the lawn ornaments, it looks like Melody is looking to steal our gnome.

She gave up on in though as I centered the camera on her, and then Octavia was able to distract her. Gnome theft averted!

Nervous made dinner for the various teenagers that were around.

Pascal finished Thomas' portrait. He's quite quick about them these days. I like how it came out, and now we should be all set until next generation on the portrait front.

I put the nursery items into inventory and took the room into more reasonable use. Pascal has the want to max the Arts and Crafts hobby, so I bought a sewing machine. It gives the adults something extra to do, and it can be useful. Pascal should actually be getting to work with this generation's novel for the Family Scrapbook bonus, but that doesn't give Arts and Crafts enthusiasm so...

At night, I sent Thomas to the Walmart. He needed to socialize, and I wanted to re-roll his wants, as they weren't very fulfillable. He wanted a maid, for instance, and the family can't have one as per the rules. I did think it was kind of funny that a servo wanted to have a maid.
He was also rolling wants for dates and such, and I realized he didn't have a gender preference, or a Secondary Aspiration for that matter. So we rolled for those. Thomas' gender preference is straight and his Secondary Aspiration is Fortune.

Thomas rolled a want for a sewing badge (as did most others in the household), so he spent the rest of the night sewing.

I remembered to buy the flamingoes required for Thomas.
... I'm not sure it was a great idea to pick the Seasons bonuses. It's going to be a pain to get the wishing well, as the Garden Club hates flamingoes. Well, we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

It's morning again, and the girls decided to start it by playing a nice game of pool among themselves.

Nervous apparently decided to start his by setting the stove on fire.
Nervous: "My pancakes!"
I think I've heard that before, eh?

Well, thanks to the alarms we just bought, the fire brigade was there in an instant and no one was hurt. Nervous even helped with putting out the fire.

Interestingly, both Bonita and Odessa got a day off from school because of the snow, but Octavia didn't. I first thought it was a glitch and she just got the wrong pop-up, but the school bus really did show up, and only she could enter it. I later realized that Bonita and Odessa are in private school and Octavia in public school, so that's probably why. We should get her in private school one of these times.

So the older girls stayed at home. Odessa felt like playing the keyboard, but apparently it was out of order. The piano repair animations were kind of silly looking.

Nervous made another trip to Club Flamingo, and this time Thomas hadn't been exposed to water, so he came with. It's a bit easier to run a business with two.

Thomas' DJ'ing was apparently well received.

As we've seen, water isn't good for Thomas, so Nervous took care of keeping company for the customers in the hot tub. They seemed to enjoy themselves, enough that the business got to rank 7.

Liza Ramirez apparently still wants to show that she's not a bad customer in Lakewood. She actually complimented Nervous!

Another slightly surprising thing also happened. Consort the town grump danced!

Consort: "You didn't see that."

Getting into an argument with a stranger? Now that sounds more like Consort to me.

Thomas met someone intriguing. He's been rolling the occasional want for dates and such, so I've been keeping my eyes open. It seems he and Bianca have two bolts.

They came along well, Thomas was happy to keep company for this particular customer.

Back at home, Reese Capp came home as Octavia's school bus friend.

She joined Bonita and Octavia upstairs at the pool table. Odessa had some studying to do, but at least she got to do it watching the game.

Pascal broke the sink. Sigh. Now we have to wait until noon tomorrow until we can fix it.
Pascal: "Sorry! I didn't mean to!"

In addition to dates, Thomas has been into skill badges recently. He was quick to complete the bronze badge on the newly bought sewing machine. Who knows, maybe he'll make it into a business later.

Reese joined the family for dinner. It's been a while since she's had anything else but Grilled Cheese.

Unlike the other girls, Octavia had homework. Downsides of having to go to school I guess.

Odessa made a quick stop at the Walmart, mostly to reroll her wants.

She wanted to buy some jewellery, so we got her a watch.

The night was pretty quiet, with some studying and phone time on the schedule.

Pascal still wanted to max his Arts and Crafts enthusiasm, so he worked on that so he could get on to the novel for the scrapbook bonus after that. He did max the hobby, by blogging, because Thomas was hogging the sewing machine.

The hobby leader brought Pascal's plaque a bit after he'd gone to bed, and we put it on the wall next to the other ones.

Thomas doesn't sleep, so he spent the night mostly working on the sewing machine.

Pascal got a sip of elixir, I'm not ready for him and Nervous to turn elders quite yet. He stayed up pretty late getting started on the obligatory novel for the scrapbook bonus.

It took him until the morning, but Thomas got a silver badge in sewing.

Time for the girls to go to school, no more snow days.

The adults had a pretty quiet day meanwhile. Thomas called Bianca, and it seems he quite likes her.

At noon Nervous got to fix the sink once again. With Thomas around, water spewing objects are a bit of a hazard.

With the school day over, the girls brought home another neighbor, Dora Fortunato.

It seems Nervous was a bit late about fixing the sink, as Thomas was smoking again. I think he must have mopped the floor or something. Funny, in my old alphabet legacy neighborhood the family servo didn't use to have problems with mopping. (If I accidentally call Thomas "George" by the way, that's because of my other 'hood.) Now the swimming pool, that was another thing entirely...

Pascal was at it with the scrapbook bonus novel. This is going to take a while.
This is, by the way, where I got a new computer. It took some tweaking to get this old game working on a modern machine, but by golly is it pretty, and fast! So excuse me if I get distracted by some silly details here.

Pascal and Nervous found some alone time, too.

Since there are no birthdays in the immediate future, this season's party was just going to be a house party. The two older girls are going to college before this rotation ends, so we're celebrating that. Pascal did the invitations.

Thomas seemed to be happy with his recharging, and went to keep company to one of our guests, John Broke. I was a little suspicious since he stopped recharging so soon, but what can you do.

In general, the yard seemed to be a popular place among the guests.

When night fell, my suspicion that not everything was alright with Thomas proved true.

I believe this was the first time that a servo has run amok in my game. On the one hand, it's always interesting to see something new, on the other hand... Please don't electrocute anyone, please!

It seems no one batted an eye when poor Thomas twitched and sparkled next to the dinner table.

In the end, poor Thomas ended up motionless by the kitchen. He's going to have to wait until the party ends so that Pascal has time to fix him. And, I don't want Pascal to get electrocuted in the middle of the party either.

This is where I got distracted by the pretty night sky. I don't think I've ever seen the stars in this game before! I saw a shooting star, too.

Hey, what's happening here? Mary Sue, that's not very nice!
Sometimes centering the camera on the gnome thief stops them at the last second, but not this time. It looks like Nervous will have work to do.

Upstairs, most of the guests seemed to have fun. Brandi and John helped us up the party score by smooching.

It seems also my future heiress wanted to get in on that, snagging her first kiss with Dora Fortunato.
(Sorry about the bad picture. I once again forgot that the special event camera is on by default after installation.)

That was pretty cute, but unfortunately, I don't think it's gonna last. Octavia is the heiress of the OWBC here, and I'm not 100% sure, but I think Dora will be the heiress of the Pure Entrepreneur challenge, so I'll have to figure things out in some other way.

Before the party was over, our gnome problem was again solved, and to my surprise, not by Nervous.
Octavia: "There you go, our gnome is again safe."
Thank you Octavia! It seems our heir poll made a good choice, the gnome should be guarded for another generation.
Octavia: "Thanks. I'll try my best."

The party was a Roof Raiser, it seems that everyone had a good time.

And finally, as the guests left, it was time for Pascal to fix Thomas. I hope he stays in good shape now.

Everyone else went to bed, Thomas spent the night sewing, as usual. I'm sorry you kind of missed the party.
Thomas: "It's okay, at least Pascal was kind enough to fix me. I'll try not to get broken at the next one."

In the morning, it was an important day ahead for Bonita and Odessa. They made their final calls to the college about their scholarships, and prepared to move out. Friday is a bit of an odd choice of a day, but Bonita is so close to growing up that I don't want to risk accidentally growing up before she gets to go, so Friday it is.
Odessa is younger, she could have gone some time next rotation, but she's a Family sim and hasn't had any luck partner-wise as a teen, so I figured she'd probably be happier as a student. Plus the two of them can keep each other company.

So, Bonita and Odessa said their goodbyes and got ready to leave before the school bus would come for them.
Pascal: "Call us when you get there okay?"
Bye girls! We'll see you later this rotation!

Octavia is still rather young for college, and she still has stuff to do at home. At the moment, it involves rushing to the school bus after saying goodbye to her sisters.

It seems that Thomas vacated the sewing machine long enough for Pascal to gain a bronze badge.

Pascal also got to work on his practical magic skills a little bit by cleaning the puddles in the bathroom.

Not that it was that useful before Nervous got to fix the shower after noon.

When the schoolday ended, Octavia brought home Lauren Davidson. Only she's left for college earlier this rotation and is currently awaiting her young adult birth day in the Student Bin. I suppose that's probably no problem for the game, but just in case we sent her away right away.

In the afternoon, Pascal and Nervous took a trip to Club Flamingo.

I mostly sat back and watched the townies do their best dance moves.

Nervous maxed his creativity skill while DJ'ing.

It seemed that the customers enjoyed themselves, too.

After we closed the place for the day, Pascal and Nervous had a date at the empty club, to gain some aspiration. It was easily a Dream Date.

Then it was time to head home and socialize with Octavia, the one daughter still at home.

Nervous also got his sip of the elixir finally, now that his aspiration is in nice shape.

Much of the evening was spent on the phone.

Or alternatively, skilling. It's been a while since Pascal has used his secret magic room. He's got to study hard, I want him to be able to turn other sims, as I'd like to have magic "run in the family".

Nervous spent some time at the robotics bench. He's got to get the gold badge for our bonuses, too.

Saturday started with a family breakfast, quieter than they were used to.

After that it was time to work on skills. Thomas was recharging, so Pascal called dibs on the sewing machine.

Octavia worked on her scholarships. By yelling at the mirror, how else.

Nervous worked on his robotics badges, and made some toy robots for the electronics store while he was at it. The family business doesn't have a rule about visiting regularly like the clubhouse business does, so we've been neglecting it some, should visit it again though.

After sewing a bit, Pascal returned to his novel.

Octavia had the want for a date, and as it happened, there was someone she had two bolts with, so I obliged.

Just as she was leaving the lot, Thomas got his gold badge on sewing. Perhaps we can look into a business for him next week.

Not many dating locations available, so Octavia headed to the Walmart. Her date was Tybalt Capp, they have two bolts and were already friends from before.

As I often do, I helped the two of them score the friendly wants in the beginning.

I'm not sure that's a great idea, Tybalt. Octavia doesn't have many nice points to spare.
To my surprise, this didn't end badly.

It wasn't many interactions after I let go of the mouse after Tybalt snagged his first kiss with Octavia.

And after the obligatory first kiss, they went straight for the makeouts. I like ACR, although sometimes I wish I'd see more variety there.

Still, they're pretty cute.

Octavia, the guy just fell in love with you! Some sense of timing on your part would be great!

A couple interactions later, Octavia was in love too.

And she closed the date by punching him too hard in punch-you-punch-me. Sigh, mean sims.

It doesn't seem like Tybalt minded, though. It was a dream date regardless.

Tybalt showed up later in the afternoon with the traditional dream date bouquet. (We sold the bouquets on the porch so that they wouldn't block the passage. Sorry, Tybalt.)

In other news, after all those hours at the sewing machine, Thomas zoned about Arts and Crafts. He got his plaque, which joined the others in the upstairs lobby.

I decided that since Octavia is the heiress and still living at home before college, she should start working towards becoming our next Bug Nut. I could make the spouse the Bug Nut of course, but Octavia has more time. Plus her college scholarships are in pretty good shape already, so working on the future is only smart. So in this case, it meant running around the yard with a jar.

After a lot of work, Pascal finally finished his novel. Seeing how high his creativity skill is, it was no surprise that the book was a bestseller. Pascal was pretty pleased about that.

And of course, the book had aliens on the cover, what else?

The evening was otherwise pretty quiet, but Tybalt showed up again. He had brought a karaoke machine for Octavia. We have no space for it in the house, but Octavia put it in her inventory, to take with her to college.

Sunday morning. Not much longer until the rotation is done with. Pascal and Nervous started their morning with breakfast together.

Octavia wasn't hungry, so she played pool instead.

I almost never catch the sliding animation in a picture, it's so quick. But this time I did! Octavia slides down the stair railing.

Since Nervous has been making us quite a few toy robots, we decided to head to Curious Gadgets for a session.

So the plan was such that Octavia spends her time on the yard hunting for bugs.

Meanwhile, Pascal sells...

... and Nervous makes more toy robots.

Not everything went off without a hitch of course, poor Octavia had to run away from bees.

And poor Pascal had to listen to Albany Capp's complaints about his husband (no idea what Albany has against Nervous), because I wasn't quick enough to cancel the interaction.

On the plus side, Albany did buy a nice load of stuff regardless.

Before the session was done, Nervous got his silver badge for robotics. Getting closer to that goal, too.

The rest of Sunday was spent peacefully at home, with phone time and skilling.

Some crafting hobbies, too. You can never have a supply too large for a business selling self-made goods.

At some point I found Thomas at the telescope. I guess he needs a break from all the sewing.

After dinner, I calculated the tax and Nervous sent the payment. A good chunk of money towards a public university.

Finally, it was time for bed and time to end the rotation. Good night, sleep tight, don't let the bedbug bite!
But wait! There's yet pictures for you before we go. During this rotation, I finished building the community lot that we earned when the Davidson kids formed their own household for college. It's a college community lot for our new students, let's go take a look!

Welcome to the LDC Student Union! It's a place for our soon to be students to hang out, and much needed as such. Since the Lizzie Davidson College is a rich private university, I figured the student union would be wealthy and fancy as well.

Downstairs, we have a nice cafeteria to enjoy your student lunch.

About half of the downstairs is taken up by a space for parties, or just for hanging out.

Bathrooms are of course also included.

Upstairs, we have a lot of fun activities to enjoy with friends.

Because the student union is fancy, there's also a small balcony and a hot tub. Covered, to prevent lightning accidents hopefully.

And of course, you can study at the student union, if you want. Or just browse the web or something.
And that's it! We've come to the end of the round with the Curiouses, and all that remains are the scores. The BaCC:
