Hello, and welcome back to Lakewood: Just a BaCC! We're back with an update from the Fortunato Pure Entrepreneur challenge, so let's dive right in, shall we?
Morning, Daniel F., how are you feeling today?
Daniel F.: "Hungry."
Oh, right, that would be the case of course. And apparently you have a craving for grilled cheese too. Well that's not really much out of the usual really.
In case you don't remember, Daniel got pregnant in the end of the last rotation, and also his secondary aspiration is Grilled Cheese.

Morning, Daniel P.! Doing some housekeeping?
Daniel P.: "Yeah, some dog must have dug this hole so I might as well see what I can find in it before closing it. We need to found a new business this week, after all."
That's thoughtful of you. We do indeed have plans to found a new business, in your name so that you can earn the cash perks too.

Most of Daniel F.'s morning was spent like this: eating, puking, cleaning the toilet, puking again, cleaning the toilet, taking a shower, puking... The joys of being pregnant, huh? It's much the same as when Daniel P. was pregnant with Donte.

Let's not break it to Daniel P. that the love letter is very likely not for him.

Later in the forenoon.
Daniel F.: "Finally! This means I'm at least done with the puking, right?"
Yeah, you're a sim so that should indeed be the case. I hear for some humans it's a different story though.

Daniel F. needed to rest after the constant puking, so Daniel P. was in charge of the baby they already had, little Donte.

Donte got to spend time in the fun chair while Daniel P. did some painting in the nursery / hobby room.

And that painting paid off. Daniel P. was able to finish his painting and sell it. It wasn't worth very much, but in a Pure Entrepreneur challenge, every little bit counts.

In the evening, Daniel P. made a trip to the Walmart, not for shopping but for digging. We want him to be able to buy a new business soon. Of course, his digging was from the more boring side of happenings.

I wonder what's got the cashiers all upset?

Oh, right. That'd be Brandi woohooing her husband again. I'm still not sure why they gringe at these two while cheering pretty much for everyone else.

There was apparently also a brawl. Which Daniel P. of course missed, as he was still digging.

It seems that the General got his butt kicked by Cornwall Capp.

Daniel P. made it back home right on time for little Donte's birthday.

Daniel F. got to do the honors this time, while apparently Daniel P. was of the opinion that his partner was very photogenic in the mint green pregnancy outfit.

But let's see how the kid looks like, shall we?

Well err, Donte seems to be pretty cute, but we've got to do something about that outfit. And because I'm an idiot, we didn't buy one although we were just at the Walmart. *facepalm* Daniel P. are you up for a second trip yet?

Well, he was. In the morning, poor Donte was still mid-makeover, when he really needed to potty. Well, we tackled that skill pretty quickly!

And then it was time to finish that much needed makeover. Pretty cute, eh?

In the morning, Daniel F. was again feeling... you guessed it, hungry. The most nutritious food that he was able to make on his cooking skills was cereal, so cereal it was. (Ok, yeah, he would have been able to make grilled cheese, but he didn't have the want so I had him make something else for a change.)

After that, it was time for an aspiration boosting date. Daniel F. should get back to his serial dating, too, but maybe we'll wait until the baby is born.

And naturally, it was a dream date.

Just one day to go!

That morning, Tuesday, I also decided that the family has enough money for a second business, this time in Daniel P.'s name. And really, it's mostly just a question of paying mind to lot value when building it, since the family isn't dirt poor anymore. I was tossing around different business ideas for the second Fortunato business, then finally found one I was happy with for Daniel P.
Daniel P.: "Hello, real estate agency? Katri says that there's a community lot business that I should buy."

After purchasing the lot, Daniel P. got to head down to his new business right down.
Welcome to It's Art, the first art gallery in Lakewood! I decided that since Daniel P. has been working on his painting, he could try to make money off art otherwise, too. Let's have a tour, shall we?

The main gallery room from behind the till. The entrance is on the left.

Still behind the till, facing to the right.

The back room, where Daniel P. can rest a bit and also work on his own paintings. That door takes to a bathroom.

The gallery also has a small back yard with a fountain and a bench. I've no idea why an art gallery would have such a place, but hey, I felt like it.

Daniel P. started work in his new business by starting a new painting. He likes to earn Creativity, and eventually, when he's accumulated enough, I intend to him sell his own paintings alongside with the buy mode ones.

Before long, Daniel P. opens the store too, and we're off to selling paintings.

The reporter is once again among the first few customers.

But this time around, Bianca Monty beats him to the task of awarding the business the star putting it on level one. Thanks Bianca!

Not that the reporter is far behind, mind you. He was again quick to award us both a good review and a Best of the Best Award. Daniel P. of course promptly displayed the prize.

Fortunately, Daniel P. soon gained his Bronze badge with the cash register. The beginning is always rough without one, but now that is dealt with.

Dina Caliente kindly gives us the last star needed for level 2. And observantly also notes that Daniel P. is indeed a Romance sim.

She's also the first customer to get a gold bag from the gallery. Hooray!

After closing the business for the time being, Daniel spends some time working on his painting and manages to finish one painting. Into the inventory it goes, to be available for selling in the gallery later.

When Daniel P. gets home, we find little Donte amusing himself by dancing to the stereo. Aww.

And apparently, when Daniel F. isn't eating or sleeping, he's on the phone. His many dates have earned him some friends, and they call him a lot.

While Daniel F. gets some rest, Daniel P. and Donte got to work on this walking thing, and they nailed it too.

After Donte was put down for his nap, Daniel P. did what else but paint.

Meanwhile, Daniel F. was in good enough shape to do some flower arranging.

Another painting finished, ready to go into inventory.

In the night, the Daniels needed their beauty sleep, so Donte got to spend time with his Charisma bunny.

The first thing in the morning, Daniel P. got to go back to It's Art. He didn't open the store right away, though, but got started on his next painting.

While we were at it, we figured we'd try something new, and invited one of Daniels friends, Cassandra, over. Daniel P. wasn't very quick with getting away from the easel, so this is what she decided to do.

But eventually Daniel P. dragged himself out there to do as we planned: to have an outing.
You see, I've never been really good with outings. I've tried a few times, but generally they've just ended at "So-so", which isn't too great. Still, I've seen other people use them as a strategy, earning mood boosts and fancy presents, so I wanted to see how this would go.

It was raining, so we moved inside so no one would get hit by a lightning. And then we set to work. Apparently one viable strategy is to swarm the target with friendly and preferably fun interactions, keeping them queued all the time. Red hands and inside jokes seem to work well, as does tickling. Hugs and admirations maybe less so, but beneficial either way.

Cassandra was apparently so pleased that she gave our closed business a gold star.

And in the end, it was a success. My first successful outing, yay! We'll see if anything nice results from this.
Possibly my mistake before has been to try and manage too large an outing group. One on one it seems to be easier, although still more difficult than a date. And also it seems that things like eating together do not boost the score strongly enough.
In any case, this was a successful first trial, we'll need to experiment more.

Daniel P. then proceeded to open the gallery again, and to dazzle those sims he already knows well.
Daniel P.: "You know you want it! It's red and everything!"
Lizzie: "Yes! It's red, I want it!"

It's not too long before we make it to level 3.

And not too long after that, Daniel P. makes his silver badge for the cash register. Good, that should speed up the actual sales events some.

Next it's time to take a break, and by taking a break, I mean getting another painting done.

And after that, more dazzling Lakewood's playables.
Brandi: "Oh I don't know, we're sort of tight on money..."
Daniel P.: "That's not a problem at all! Katri's got a hack that takes care that you aren't actually buying the things or spending any money. So it's infinite shopping, just like townies!"
Brandi: "Well in that case!"

Daniel P.: "Oh hey honey. Everything ok? Yeah I'm almost done here, we're one star away from level four. I'll try to get that one and then come home ok?"

Yet before that star, Daniel P. got his bronze restocking badge. Too bad his want for it rolled away some time ago.

But finally, Mortimer Goth was the one to give us our last needed star for level four. Hooray!
Now Daniel P., let's head back home. We don't want to miss the birth, do we?

Back at home, it's almost time for Daniel F. to give birth, but he still manages to earn his silver badge for flower arrangements first.

Meanwhile, the soon to be big brother, Donte, is hungry for some attention, and Daniel P. is happy to provide. Autonomous aww.

But then, it's finally time!
Daniel F.: "Daniel P., stop painting and drag your butt over here right now!"

Daniel P.: *pants* "I'm here, I'm here!"

Daniel P.: "Goodness, it's a baby!"
Indeed it is. A little girl this time, whom we named Dora. Say hi to Dora.

And Daniel P. enthusiastically did.
Dora's birth means that the population has passed 250, and that opens a position in Education.

After the birth, our first order of business was to get Dora some nice clothes, with a Freezer Bunny on them.

Our second order of business was to build a couple of walls, so that we could snip a separate nursery off the overly large living room.

And while we were at it, another room too, currently unfurnished. It's unlikely that the Daniels would go for more kids, so I think one of them will later get the nursery as their room, and one this empty room.

While the kids napped, the adults finally got to enjoy a peaceful dinner together.

After dinner, it was time to get on with Donte's toddler training. Since Daniel P. already did potty training and walking, Daniel F. gets to do talking and the nursery rhyme.

Meanwhile, Daniel P., guess what, painted.

In the morning, Daniel F. had recovered enough so that he could go on with his date plans and talk on the phone.

Only his next date wasn't terribly keen apparently (he got rejected), so I had him go to Walmart to meet some sims. He chatted a bit with Brandi.

He's already good friends with Regan, so I tried the outing thing again. To think of it, I should probably have Daniel F. quickly have a date with also friends, even if just to immediately end the date. There aren't that many sims in Lakewood, after all.

In any case, Daniel F.'s outing with Regan was also a roaring success. I think I'm getting a hang of this thing. Anyway, let's head back home.

Oh, right. While we were improving on the house, we also bought more solar panels since we had the money, and now that it's Thursday, we got a nice return instead of bills. Not too bad!
We would also have bought some flowers and stuff for the yard so it'd look less boring, but I figured that with the household occupied otherwise, it'd be a waste of money to get flowers before the BaCC rules allow them to get a gardener. That requires us to double the population yet.

Daniel F. and Donte got the nursery rhyme thing done too. Donte should be all ready to grow up now!

I don't have to tell you what Daniel P. has been up to. So much that he zoned about Arts and Crafts.

While the kids were amusing themselves, both of the adults worked on their creative pursuits.

Little Dora hung out in her bouncy chair, and like Donte, she seems to enjoy it.

Daniel P. got a plaque for his enthusiasm, and we put it on the wall.

In the evening, it was time for Donte's birthday. We didn't have a party, but there were a couple of guests around. Kristen jogged by, so Daniel F. greeted her, and Circe was on the phone and then suddenly on the lot.

Daniel P. did the honors, and apparently Daniel F. thought that the back of his head was very photogenic. Handsome men in the household I suppose.

After blowing out the candles, it was time to grow up.

And here he is! Still cute, and especially will be once we get him some nice clothes.

And a bit later, Daniel P. got to do the blow out candles thing again, because this was a double birthday.

Daniel F., can you please cut that?

Yes, ladies, the proud father is indeed a Romance sim.

And there we go! That means two sets of makeovers are to be had. Daniel F., you seem to be free, so would you make the trip to Walmart?
Daniel F.: "I'm on it."

So, a quick trip to Walmart later, we got ourself some makeovers. Here's little Dora. Quite a cutie. Her stats are 6/3/6/6/6 (Cancer).

And here's Donte. A big boy now.

That night, we also learned that indeed, this outing thing worked. Regan stopped by to leave us a fancy telescope. Thanks Regan! We didn't have one yet, so I think we'll just put it on the yard.

While Daniel F. and Dora slept, Donte studied (not tired) and Daniel P. painted, I re-arranged the rooms. Donte got his own, and I moved the nursery to the smaller, empty room. After all, that one has more girl colors in it, so I think Dora will like it when she's bigger.

Yet that night, Daniel P. maxed his creativity, and scored some major points for it too. He's a Romance/Fortune sim, so that's pretty rare too I suppose.

In the early morning, Dora discovered that she liked Tinkering.

And while the adults were busy with their morning routines, Donte kept her company.

After that though, it was time for some toddler training, and first things first, potty training.

Later that day, it was time for Daniel F. to keep on working towards his LTW. First date #17 was Kristen Singles, with zero bolts.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, nothing romantic happened. Maybe the most interesting thing that did happen was this.
Kristen: "Hmm... No, no thank you mr. Charlatan, I think I'd prefer not to be pickpocketed."

Well, it was still a nice date, and after the date-ending kiss, Daniel F. and Kristen had mutual crush hearts.

When Daniel F. got home from his date, Daniel P. soon got finished with his latest painting. So next it was time for him to head out in turn.

So back to It's Art it was. Where we found that no matter how small the store, the customers can still be confused.

It also turned out that the customers were buying the store empty, and Daniel P. could no longer keep up with sales, restocking and cashiering all at the same time. So we hired an employee. Ophelia Nigmos seemed excited to be working as cashier.

Fairly soon afterwards, we made it to level 5. Oh! Because this is an art gallery, that also means that a position in the Artist career is now open. That can only be taken advantage of when someone graduates college of course, but nevertheless.

And while Ophelia was initially struggling, she gained her bronze talent badge on cashiering.

Daniel P.: "Thanks for your help, you've been invaluable. Now let's see about that wage too."
Ophelia: "Thanks, mr. Daniel. Very nice of you."

Daniel P. headed home, where his son came home from school. He wasn't entirely happy with his grades.

But he did also bring a friend, Octavia Curious from the OWBC next door. It seems that the Curious girls are quite frequent school bus friends in the neighborhood.

While Donte and Octavia got to know each other, Daniel F. worked on his flower arrangement skill. He's starting to have a nice stock of wildflower bouquets, but I'd like him to earn the gold badge before possibly getting him a new store. Because snapdragons. Daniel F. would also very much like to earn his gold badge.

Meanwhile, Daniel P. and Dora got a hang of this talking thing. Hungry little girl, she is.

During the afternoon and evening, Donte and Octavia got quite friendly.

Then it was time for Octavia to go home though, and Donte needed to do his homework. Daniel P. helped him with it.

Nina Caliente had invited herself in at some point, so she was over for dinner.

Apparently, she was also over for something else, and Daniel F. was happy to oblige.
She's not the only one trying to get Daniel F. to woohoo with them, but I usually cancel it out, because they tend to be in the mood when Daniel F. is busy buying groceries or something.

Then about two seconds after Daniel F. and Nina got up from the couch, Daniel P. was in the mood too, and again Daniel F. happily obliged.
So it kind of looks like Daniel F. is more of a Romancer than Daniel P., but on the other hand, it might be partly because Daniel P. is gay and has less choices in the 'hood. In any case, both seem happy.

In the morning, Donte wanted to play peek-a-boo, and it seems he and Dora enjoyed.

He also wanted to jump rope, and it turns out Fitness is his OTH.

While blogging, Daniel P. managed to break the computer, so he got to fix it. He's only got a couple of mechanical points, but he didn't get electrocuted. In this 'hood, I'm not sure if I should be relieved or disappointed.
Daniel P.: "Thanks a lot."
Hey, I didn't mean it like that!

Hey, Daniel F., watch out for that... lamp. Nevermind.

Daniel P. went for a quick session at It's Art. Otherwise it was rather uneventful, but Ophelia gained a silver badge in cashiering, and the gallery reached level 6.

Back at home, Daniel F. helped Dora to learn to walk.

Then, it was time for him to head out in turn. His first date #18 was Olive Spectre, with negative chemistry. I suppose it says something about the date that Daniel F. decided to start it by talking about his kids.

Yep, an extremely romantic date.

Still, it was a success.

Hey, I thought I had that hack that prevents the romantic greet... *checks relationships panel* Oh. They're in love. I've no idea how that happened. Was John one of Daniel F.'s dates? Maybe? Well, in any case this is quite interesting for the TPC, which happens to be the next in rotation...

With date night over, it's already Sunday morning. The family had money to spare, so I built a little garden. Not that the family really needs the produce, but it can at least be sold (and this challenge is all about the money after all), plus it provides a way to gain fun. Donte got to try it out.

Sunday was also Dora's birthday, so Daniel P. got her all ready by teaching her the nursery rhyme.

Meanwhile, Donte had a high-scoring want to learn mechanical, so the studious little boy got to sit down with a book.

With no viable date target immediately available, Daniel F. got to go to Walmart and see if one of his friends was available for an outing instead. It turns out that Mortimer was, so outing time again.
Daniel F. has a lot of friends with relatively low relationship scores, so the daily phone traffic tends to be a bit insane. If he has some outings, maybe that'll help.

The outing was again a success, but it seems that everyone else on the lot had something more interesting to do.

Consort: "Ow, my back!"
Don't give me that, Consort. I'm pretty sure I know who got the fight going.
Consort: "Why I never!"

As I said, it was time for Dora's birthday. Only the family in attendance, because it's been a busy week, plus the birthday girl tends to be scared of parties.

Alright, let's see how she grows up!

Dora: "I've got a hand! A real hand!"
That you do, Dora. Now, this time your Daddy was smart and bought some new clothes while he was out. So you can head to the dresser and pick something you like.

And here's Dora post-makeover. Still a cutie.

Donte: "And you'll get to go to school with me, isn't that cool?"
It seems that Donte is excited about having a sibling almost as big as he is.

Dora also got a room of her own. She's too big to sleep in the crib now, so we got rid of the nursery stuff and replaced it with big girl stuff.

Yet before bed, Daniel P. finished another painting. He's finished several that I haven't shown to avoid boredom. This one is special in the way that it's the first that's worth more than 500 simoleans, that is, it qualifies as a masterpiece.

Monday morning came, and thus it was time for the last half a day of this extended rotation. The kids had some work to do in the garden.
Hey, they enjoyed it and gained fun from it!

After the kids left for school, the matchmaker showed up to drop of a magic lamp. And once again, it was for the youngest member of the household, Dora.

Of course, it was the adults who got to use it first. And of course, seeing that this is a Pure Entrepreneur challenge within a BaCC, Daniel P. wished for money. He might yet get to wish for peace of mind, since he can't get his LTW (to become Rock God) in this challenge, but I decided to wait a bit with that. His LTA meter is looking pretty high at the moment, so maybe he'll yet get platinum from that.

While Daniel P. painted and Daniel F. was on the phone with the next potential date, Darren Dreamer invited himself in. Seeing that he was almost friends with Daniel P., I decided to give the two of them an outing, while the money was still dropping from the sky. Friends are always good to have, plus it'll be interesting to see if anything else develops from this, as Daniel P. and Darren have two bolts.

For now, it stayed strictly friendly, but that's because Daniel F. was in the room and I was orchestrating the outing.

The kids came home from school, and brought another girl home from the Curious OWBC. This is Odessa.

As six o'clock approached, Daniel P. concluded another great outing, and scored a cleaning skill point from it too. We'll see how things go on from here on out. But that'll have to wait until next rotation, because now I'll need to calculate the tax, have someone pay it and then we're all done here.
So all that's left is the scores. First, the BaCC:
Playable sims: 19 + 1 (Dora) = 20

Taxes collected total: 61,900 + 9,300 = 71,200 simoleans at 5% rate
* I round both the net worths and the results so as to make calculations and keeping track of payments easier.
And then, the Pure Entrepreneur: 96,645 + 68,859 (for Variety Buffet) + 48,926 (for It's Art) = 214,430 simoleans.
Pretty good on both counts, I'd say. But now, it's time for us to end this update. I hope you enjoyed, and welcome back next time for a week with the Broke family. Until then, happy simming!
