Week 3, Part 2: Capp (DITFT)

Hello, and welcome back to Lakewood: Just a BaCC! This is the third week and the second instalment, the Capp DITFT.
Hi there, Reese. Your Mommies still asleep?
Reese: "Gagoo."
Right. I bet they're really tired, they work in the garden so much.

Morning, Jenny. Nothing like a little smart milk to start the day?
Jenny: "Not if you're a toddler!"
Yep. After playing the Davidsons, I again remember how much I love smart milk.

And Regan. Umm... spaghetti for breakfast?
Regan: "Oh this is just leftovers. So that I'm not too hungry to cook."
*looks at hunger meter*
Right. You really had a rough night in the garden. Eat up! Oh, and I almost forgot, I've good news for you Regan!
Regan: "Yeah?"
During last rotation, the population crossed 100 – actually, it crossed 200 too – so now there's a Criminal position open in town!
Regan: "Really? That's awesome!"
I thought you'd like it. Now take care of other stuff first, and we'll try to get to the Walmart today to get you in the right field of work.

Meanwhile, Jenny and Reese preach the wonders of smart milk. The first toddler skill is down!

While Reese naps, Jenny helps Regan in the garden. The peppers are ripe, and after they are harvested, we can attempt a new round of planting so that we'd finally have a garden that grows everything.

Turns out the oranges ripe too, so Regan picks those once she's done taking care of her needs. Everything helps for the grocery store!

After harvesting, Regan headed to the Walmart, and took the open position in Criminal. She got to start on level 2, Bagman.

She also bought some groceries while she was there.

After that, it was more garden time for Regan.

After both Jenny and Reese had woken up from their naps, Jenny took to teaching her daughter to speak. Her first word was apparently "teddy".

Meanwhile, Regan worked on stuffing the harvested produce into crates.

Jenny and Reese were successful. Another toddler skill down.

When her parents were exhausted, Reese had to amuse herself for the night. Good thing that toddlers are generally good at that.

In the morning, Jenny stayed home to take care of Reese and her growing belly.

Meanwhile, Regan headed to Yummy!, as the family rather desperately needs money. With a kid and another one on the way, they need to expand the house soon.
Regan: "... and with food, you have endless possibilities! You could jam yourself through a display case, like I am!"
Lizzie: "Oooh!"

With less familiar targets, it's best to take the selling a little bit easy. But even so, Regan's got plenty of customers. She can barely manage the queues.

Dammit, Olive! *asks to leave* Seriously, she must have half the town upset with her by now. I wonder why?

Have I mentioned lately how I like PT#9?
PT#9: "I don't think you have, not today anyway. So go ahead."
Well... I like him!

PT#9: "Well for that, I can give you a gold star."
Hooray, level 6! *grabs final cash perk* Thanks, PT!
Alright, Regan. I think that's enough today. Close the store, energize and restock for next time. Then we can head home.

When she got home, Regan got to get started with the big planting operation that was to finally give the family all different kinds of crops.

Reese: "WAAAAAHHH!"
It's ok, take it easy Reese. Mommy Regan is busy in the garden and Mommy Jenny is sleeping. You can handle it for a bit right?
Reese: "WAAAAAHHH!"

Well, Regan, it's your first day in the dream job. Have a good one!
Regan: "Thanks."

While Regan was at work and Reese was busy, Jenny got to help Regan with the planting. She gained a silver talent badge.

Perhaps working in the garden on top of taking care of Reese was a bit much for poor, pregnant Jenny. I'm sorry. Try to eat a little bit and then you can head to bed ok?

So it was a good first day, Regan?
Regan: "Ohhh yeah. Not only did I get a promotion, I got a good chance card and a nice bonus too!"
Well done! Now a little bit of work in the garden before bed, ok?

Now this is a bad picture, as the lights went out at 2 am, but it's Regan finally finishing planting the garden. That's officially one of the goals of the first generation, having a garden growing each kind of plant, completed, +1 point for the DITFT!

Before the night was over, it was time for Jenny to give birth.

The second member of generation 2 is on its way! The goals of the generation include having a boy and a girl, so we'll see if we could get a boy and complete it.

Regan rushed from the shower as soon as she could.
Regan: "I'm here now, darling. What to do, what to do?"

In a bit, the hard part was over, and the family welcomed a new member, a little girl whom we named Reina. For a moment I was wondering if she was a clone of Reese, since I forgot to go into CAS to roll the die, but then I realized Reese has grey eyes and Reina's are green. So not a clone, hooray!
Now we'll just have to try again for that boy. I'm sure Jenny won't mind, she's a family sim.
Jenny: "Well, actually, I'd like to marry off 6 children."
Yeah... *ahem* We'll see about that. Anyway, welcome to the family, Reina!

Reina got some comfy clothes.

And the house got a bit of an extension, thanks to the latest money perk from Yummy! The largish nursery is going to get split into two rather quickly, as Reese is going to be a big girl soon.

Regan didn't really have much time to sleep in the night, and since she was again needed during the day, she got to energize.

Here's a daylight picture of our new fancy garden growing all the different crops. Doesn't it look nice?Regan had the day off, so Jenny headed to work to bring home the bacon.

It didn't mean that Regan got to slack off, though. She and Reese got the walking thing down.

There were some nice snuggles involved too, while baby Reina napped.

And then, it was time for the nursery rhyme. I've said it before and I'll say it again: oh smart milk, how I love thee!

Jenny did well, too, and brought home a promotion. Excellent!

Oh, in case you're wondering about the garden: thankfully Regan and Jenny have help with that – sprinklers! Maintaining a garden that big would otherwise take up all their time. Sprinklers seem like a nice solution, they regularly water the garden, and they look kind of cool too. (The only downside so far seems to be that the blue watering radius shows in the settings mode, which I use to take pictures.)
Thanks to Lorinsv for reminding me that they exist!

In the evening, it was time for little Reese to grow into a child. Only her proud parents were in attendance, but she got a cake.

The last moments of toddlerhood...

... and the first of childhood.
Reese is still cute, and even the transition outfit is quite pretty, which rarely happens. Still, because makeovers are fun, Reese will get a new outfit.

As soon as one of her parents is free to go buy her one, that is.

Meanwhile, I worked on the house again and split the nursery into two rooms, so that Reese could get her own room.

Reese was so tired that she had to go to bed, but Regan went to the Walmart for clothes shopping. The Daniels say hi. They're still pretty cute.

It was approximately two sim minutes after the exhausted Regan finally got to pull the covers over her head that the burglar showed up. We meet again.
Jenny, Jenny, wake up!
Jenny: "*snores* ... five more minutes Mom..."

Hurry, Jenny!

Jenny: "I think there's someone in here, please come quick!"

Officer: "So we meet again."

Burglar: "Now can I say it?"
Go ahead.
Burglar: "Curses! Foiled again!"
That makes the second burglary in Lakewood. One more until a Law Enforcement position opens – and we can get alarms! I'm sure I'll be seeing you around.
Burglar: "Yeah, yeah."

And all is right in the world again. The officer kindly lets the baby know that the insurance has covered for the stolen items.

In the morning, when Reese had had enough of rest, we got her that makeover. She's still adorable!

Have a good first day at school, Reese!

I suppose as a Bookie Regan is now some kind of a white collar criminal?
Regan: "Yeah, but hopefully I won't be a Bookie for long!"

As Jenny had vacation days to spare, and no big career ambitions, she stayed home to take care of little Reina.

At 3 pm, Reese came home from school and brought Lauren Davidson home with her. Like the Capps, also the Davidsons experienced a burglary this rotation.

Flamey thoughtballoons aside, Reese and Lauren came along great and made friends on the chess board.
Apparently Lauren likes chess also when visiting neighbors.

Regan had another good day at work, bringing home a promotion and some nice simoleans.

After that, it was time to join Jenny in the garden, where she had already spent quite some time giving the plants some food.
Oh, and I wanted a nice picture with all the fruit trees bearing fruit before Regan harvested them.

Meanwhile, Reese and Lauren autonomously amused themselves with a game of Mary Mack. Aww.

In the evening, it was time for Reina's toddler birthday. Let's see how she turns out!

She's cute, and apparently not a clone either. It's hard to judge when she won't keep her eyes open for some reason. And we have to do something about that outfit and hair.

Cake was had by everyone except the birthday girl.
Including Lauren, who kindly demonstrates that the shiny mod for a later curfew works. I've long been annoyed by the fact that kids can't stay over for their friends' birthday parties. Well, no longer!

After a quick potty training session, Reina got her makeover. Something makes her look a bit old for a toddler maybe, but she's cute as a button.
Oh, and Reina's stats: she's a 8/9/6/3/9 Aries.

In the morning, Reina had to wait for a bit for her big people to wake up and let her out of the crib.
I'm told that cute toddler pictures are never pointless, so I'm going to stick to that. Because Reina is adorable, and I love this particular animation.

As for Reese, she got to start her morning by learning to study from Regan.

Then yet before school, she wanted to jump some rope, so why not.

To be able to spend time with Reina, and to give Jenny the chance to go to work, Regan called in sick. In the morning, she and Reina got the potty training thing done.

After that, Regan did some painting, for work.

When Jenny came from work, Reese made a beeline to greet her. Aww.

The mother-daughter time was interrupted by having to scold Albany Capp, who showed up to steal our newspaper.

In the evening I decided that the family has enough money for a small pond. You see, one of the objectives for this generation is to catch all the different kinds of fish, and some of those apparently require some talent badges, too, so I figured Regan might as well get started.

Meanwhile, the kids did their best to amuse themselves.

And then, it was Saturday morning already. Reese loved it, because she got to make her bed.

Homework wasn't maybe as exciting, but that needed to be taken care of as well.

After that, Jenny and Reese got to spend time together in they yard. Jenny was busy packing some crates, while Reese fished. She tends the roll the want to, so why not.

She even managed to catch something, and not just boots either.

After Regan had done enough painting, she headed to Yummy to gather some money and stars. I gave the store a little bit of an addition while we were at it. I didn't actually set the veggie crates for sale yet, as we would have run out of them pretty fast anyway. But I wanted to try out the nice custom veggie stand, so that one we did set up for sale. And the reporter was promptly tempted to buy some. It seems that when running a business, it sells groceries. I'm curious to see if I understood correctly that when going to buy stuff, it would sell veggies.

This one was an interesting sight. Apparently the two biggest town grumps get along with each other quite well!

Regan's session was a success. First, she ganed a silver restocking badge.

Then, the store gained the last star needed to reach level seven. From none other than our friendly neighborhood reporter. Thanks!

And finally, she got both a good review and a Best of the Best Award. (She already had one.) I really like this reporter!

Back at home, it was time to work on Reina's toddler skills. Jenny got to do the talking part...

... and Regan took care of walking. Only the nursery rhyme to go!

Sunday morning, Jenny had work. She was a bit of a sleepyhead, but still just made it to work.

Reese again wanted to fish, though I'm not sure if she enjoyed it a lot.

Regan started a long round in the garden, to talk to all of the plants to make them thrive. The sprinklers do keep them well watered, but some effort is still needed to make them really healthy.

Reese got to invite a friend over, and said friend was of course Lauren Davidson.

Reese had the want to be best friends, and best friends they became. At the chess board, of course, because Lauren loves chess.

Apparently, she too wanted to be best friends.

In the afternoon, Jenny came home with another promotion.

After which, she got to teach Reina her final toddler skill. Reina also discovered her OTH.
( I really like that shirt on Jenny, but unfortunately it's a bit... unfortunate in some positions.)

Sunday or not, Regan went in for another session at Yummy, mostly because I have a plan for a business for Jenny, and that requires money.
I don't know what it is about this grocery store that makes the elders want to come in and socialize.

Also, sometimes it seems to be really hard for my playables to find groceries in a grocery store.

Well, in any case, Cassandra really liked our store and we made it to level eight.

Regan stayed for a bit to make some money, both by managing the store and digging in the yard. While there, Reese called her.
Reese: "Mommy, when are you coming home? We miss you!"
Regan: "Only a little while longer, sweetie!"
I didn't know they could do that.

Regan didn't stay too long after that, she couldn't keep her little girl waiting. And besides, I was of the opinion that the money should be just about sufficient. Regan found Reese fishing again, and apparently she'd already managed a bronze talent badge.

That night, it was Reina's birthday, and Jenny took her to the cake. Reese's new best friend Lauren was our sole guest for the night.

And so, the last moments of toddlerhood...

... were followed by the first of childhood. Hi there, Reina! Still cute, and again the transition outfit isn't bad, but it's not her exactly, so she'll get a makeover when she's first had some sleep.

With the neighbor's kids sent to home and their own kids sleeping, Regan and Jenny found some tim alone. No lullaby though. I might have to help them a bit if we are gonna have that boy some day.

Monday morning. A normal rotation would have been over already, but the Davidsons needed a bit more time for Ajay to get that first Business District of ours unlocked, so now everyone gets until Monday six pm this week.
Jenny: "Hi, this is Jenny Capp. Katri says that you should have a community lot for me to buy?"
Money was really tight (we even had to sell the tv), but Jenny could finally afford that community lot that I built for her.

So of course, Jenny had to visit it right away. Not only because I wanted to see it in action, but also because the family needed money to pay the taxes this week. Ahem.
Welcome to Better Dressed Sims, the first business in Lakewood's brand new Business District, Pleasant Lakes. As you may have guessed, it's indeed a clothing store.Like it often happens when I build, it's a little bit bigger than I intended, so it looks a bit spacious right now. Otherwise I'm pretty happy with it, I got it to look like a fancier clothing store like I had in mind.

Jenny set right to work, and soon enough gained her first sales talent badge.

Not long after that, we made it to level one. Wow, Olive actually plays nice and likes a place sometimes!

Managing the cash register tends to be a little painful at first, but luckily Jenny had some experience from when helping Regan out with Yummy! With a silver badge, things should only get easier from here.

All in all, not a bad opening. The reporter liked this place too, so Jenny bagged a good review and a Best of the Best Award. Let's just not tell her that all the places in Lakewood are actually Best of the Best.

So it was a good time to return home, where the morning routine was still going on. When everyone was getting ready for they day, Reina got the promised makeover right on time for her first day at school.
Reina: "I like purple, it's a nice color."
I'm glad you do, since I picked it just for you!

Then it was indeed time for the morning rush, so all the Capps headed for work and school.

In the afternoon, Regan came home with a promotion. Well done Regan, that's halfway through your LTW!
Regan: "It's pretty nice to finally be working on it."
I bet.

Reese brought home her first A+, and made her Mommy proud.

She also brought home Aaron Davidson, who was apparently upset that their house was robbed this rotation. Don't be mad Aaron, the burglar is only helping you get closer to having alarms! And a position in Law Enforcement!

It was Reina who felt more social and joined Aaron at the chess board. Reese preferred playing on the computer.

Jenny too, got home from work, and as six pm drew close, she took care to pay the taxes. So for this rotation, all is well and good, and this is where we leave the Capp household. The final thing to do, of course, is to tally up the stats.
BaCC stats:
Playable sims: 17 + 1 (Reina) = 18
SM: 13
Population: 234
Households: 5
CAS sims: 1 placed / 15 + 1 (for Better Dressed Sims) = 16 earned
Community lots: 6 businesses + 1 free = 7

Yummy! (Regan Capp, level 8)
Curious Gadgets (Pascal Curious, level 7)

Better Dressed Sims (Jenny Capp, level 1)
Other community lots:
Lakewood Walmart (general store)
Careers:
Business: Unlocked! / 1 taken (Ajay Davidson, level 10)
Medical: Unlocked!
Architecture: 2 openings / 1 taken (Jenny Capp, level 8)
Culinary: 1 opening / 0 taken
Criminal: 1 opening / 1 taken (Regan Capp, level 5)
Music: Unlocked!
Business Tycoons: 1 (Ajay Davidson)
Universities: 1 (privately funded, founded by Lizzie Davidson)
Business Districts: 1
Downtown: no
Fires: 1
Burglaries: 2

Taxes collected from this household: 51,000*0.05 + 40,000*0.05 (for level 8 business) + 5,000*0.05 (for level 1 business) = 4,800 simoleans*
Taxes collected total: 48,000 + 4,800 = 52,800 simoleans at 5% rate
* I round both the net worths and the results so as to make calculations and keeping track of payments easier.
And the DITFT points scored this rotation:
1 point for having a garden containing all different types of plat
and because I forgot to add it last rotation...
1 point for reaching generation 2
Total so far: 7 points.
So, that's all for this time. I hope youn enjoyed the ride, and welcome back next time for a week with the Curious OWBC! Until then, happy simming!
