Week 2, Part 2: Capp (DITFT)

Hello, and welcome back to Lakewood: Just a BaCC. This is the second part of week two, and the Capp-Smith household, who's also a DITFT challenge.
Morning, Regan. How are things?
Regan: "Oh hi. The usual, making breakfast. But hey, about that 'Regan-Smith household'..."
Yeah, I promised you a wedding last week, and a wedding you will have. We might even get to it today if we're lucky. But first, I think you and Jenny can make a shopping trip.
Regan: "No objections to that!"

Regan: "Oh man, I burned them!"
Oh man, you didn't burn them...
Regan: "What did you say?"
Nothing, nothing.
Regan: "Okay. Well, that's what I get for talking to you and cooking at the same time I guess."

Regan: "Honey, we were thinking with Katri that maybe we should go clothes shopping today."
Jenny: "Well that sounds nice. For the wedding or in general?"
Both. You two could use some everyday clothes, and since you aren't terribly broke, let's get something nice for the wedding too.
Jenny: "Okay, sounds like a plan. Let me just check the job listings online first and then we'll go."

Jenny had several wants for a job, and one of them was Architecture, which has its first position open. Unfortunately, Architecture positions available on the computer, and of course, going to a community lot would re-roll Jenny's wants. Pity.

Sorry about that, Jenny. I would have locked the Arcitecture want, but I couldn't risk losing the marry Regan want.
Jenny: "Don't worry about it, of course we choose marrying Regan over some silly career want. So should I take up Architecture anyway?"
"Well if that's something you'd like to do. Some income for the family would be nice, and that's available."
Jenny: "Alright, let's take that one then."
Whoa, Jenny was able to start on level four right away, not bad!

While Jenny was busy getting a job and chatting to a few townies, Regan got busy with her wardrobe. Well, Regan, what do you think?
Regan: "It's... familiar but different. I think I like it."
Exactly what I had in mind. I'm glad you're happy.

While it was Jenny's turn to be made over, Regan did some cell phone shopping. Take one for Jenny too, while you're at it.
Regan: "Can do!"

How about you, Jenny, how do you feel about your makeover?
Jenny: "It might take a bit of getting used to. But it's pretty, I like it."
Great. I think Regan found you two some nice formalwear, too, so we should be just about all set. Let's go back home.

Back at home, we decided to wait with the wedding at least until the afternoon/evening, and it turned out to be a good decision: Jenny had work yet that same morning.

While Jenny was at work, Regan did some work in the garden, making it even bigger.

Like so. It's a very nice garden, though I admit that I've no idea whether I can manage such a big one with only two adults, of which one has a job and who'll probably have kids soon. Oh well. If some of the plants die, we'll just put them in the compost and use them to fertilize the next batch.

To my surprise, Jenny got a promotion on her very first day, and she wasn't even platinum. Go Jenny! That promotion bonus is really going to help paying off that loan.

Oh, and thanks to a hobby chance card, she brought a friend, who turned out to be Lizzie Davidson. Who doesn't even work currently, let alone in the Architecture career.
Jenny: "Well it was fun sharing the carpool back with you Lizzie, but me and Regan have a big night ahead of us and we really should prepare, I hope that's ok."
Lizzie: "Oh, no problem. I somehow accidentally ended up at the Architecture office today, but it was kind of fun. I think I should be getting out of these clothes, anyway."
Jenny: "Great, thanks for understanding. Me and Regan will be inviting you in a couple of hours."
Lizzie: "Sure, see you then!"

So after some food and a bathroom break, it was time for the young couple to have some coffee so they'd stay awake during the ceremony.
Jenny: "So do you think we're all set?"
Regan: "I do. We've got the food, the arch, the chairs... Only the phone call left to make."
Jenny: "Great, I can't wait!"
Regan: "Me neither, sweetie. Let's get this started."

So not much later, the guests arrived. Hey you, Lizzie, Bianca. I did buy a buffet table for the occasion and even had Regan fill it, you know.

And hey you, Pascal. I put that thing off to the side for a reason.

*sigh* Well, anyway. While some of the guests were...

... Regan and Jenny made their vows. Hey, a couple of guests even made it to the ceremony!

So with that...

... the happy couple made it official, and Jenny Smith became Jenny Capp.
Lizzie: "Did I miss anything?"
Just the actual wedding, basically. Not that you were the only one.

Lizzie: "Well, I was there for the part that counts, the kiss and the clapping!"
True.

Mutual marriage Wants are the best. That's all.
Regan and Jenny: "Amen!"

Well, at least some of the guests were polite enough to watch and clap.

But as soon as the official part was over, the best attraction of the wedding was revealed: the trampoline!

Pascal wasn't the only one who had a go, either.

The only way to distract the guests from their trampoline was to cut the cake.

Jenny is a nice feeder, no surprise there.

... a bit of friendly discussion in front of the TV...

... and a bit of romance...

... wait, what? No, Lizzie! What is it with you and the elder men?

Lizzie: "... whoops? I just... like Consort?"
Goddammit, Lizzie. I can't take you anywhere.

Well, it looks like I might have a bit of a mess to clean up with the Davidsons next week. In any case, despite our foundress' inappropriate behavior (or I suppose by sim logic, even thanks to it), the wedding was a roof raiser.

Despite the late hour and tiredness, the newlyweds stayed awake for a bit longer.

Thanks to the first generation DITFT rules – no premarital woohoo – there was still something both Regan and Jenny had been looking forward to!

The next day, Jenny heads for work for the second time. Have a good day, Jenny!
Jenny: "Thanks."

Meanwhile, Regan spent the day taking care of household matters, such as paying the bills.

And of course, taking care of the garden.
Regan: "Yeah, about that..."
Yes, Regan?
Regan: "What about my career ambition? How much longer do I need to play housewife and stay home tending the garden? I don't mean this isn't nice, but... I would really like to start progressing in my career."
Oh, I understand. But don't worry, things are progressing nicely in this direction. The first Crime opening opens at the population of 100, and we're currently at 80. And there are babies coming up, too. I can't make any promises, but if we have any luck, there could be an opening next week.
Regan: "Okay. I think I can do next week."
That's the spirit.

So I take it the second day was a good one, too, Jenny?
Jenny: "Oh yes it was. I managed to impress the boss and starting tomorrow, I'm a Draftsman."
Great, congratulations!

Regan was still working in the garden when Jenny got home, so she got to help by packaging the produce they had so far. Eight boxes of tomatoes. Not a bad start, but clearly, it's going to take a while before we have a stock worth of selling at Yummy!

In the evening, Jenny practised her painting, because creativity will surely come handy in her new job.

And of course, newlyweds were still newlyweds.

The next morning, actions had consequences.
Jenny: "Shut up."

While Jenny was at work, Regan took care of the garden, and while she was at it, she earned her gold gardening badge. Woot! That's +1 point for the DITFT!

As we still had time before Jenny would come home, we decided to head to Yummy! with Regan. She started out by cleaning the windows.
Regan: "Gotta be presentable for the customers."

It generally went pretty well, despite the fact that a level 4 business is already perhaps a bit busy for a single sim. But Regan was managing.

Not everything was sunshine and puppies, though, it never is with townies. Olive had something against the reporter and decided to share her piece. The reporter, who generally seems a very friendly fellow (he likes basically all the businesses in town), didn't let her just get away with it.

Olive may have tried to flatter Regan, but that didn't help her case any.
Regan: "I'm sorry, ma'am, but I'm going to have to ask you to leave. Our business doesn't need anyone agonizing our custormers, least of all the reporter. Please come back in a better mood."

Working hard at the business also resulted in a Gold cash register badge for Regan. (And also a rather inappropriate blind date offer from Goneril Capp.)

In the end, we were left a little bit under the star limit for the next business level, but we did make some cash and loyalty stars, which is always good. Alright, Regan, let's head back home!

Remember what I told you last week, Regan?
Regan: "About what?"
About how you'd be out of debt in no time. Remember how you didn't really believe me?
Regan: "You mean..."
Yes, we just paid off the rest of that loan. The house is completely yours now!
Regan: *squees*

Jenny, like Ajay, was a bit unlucky and brought home the cold from work.

Only after a while I remembered that she's a Family sim and thus can make Grandmother's comfort soup. Even eating a full plate didn't completely wipe out the illness (she got a new pop up message that she was ill right after the message that the soup was really hitting the spot).

And in the night, Jenny woke up to find that she was indeed pregnant.

She could no longer sleep, so she went to work on he creativity instead. And after a little bit of painting in the middle of the night, she was healthy again.

In the next morning, in addition to painting, Jenny did some housework to keep things tidy despite the fact that services are still locked.

She also found the time to keep up with some friends.

Meanwhile, Regan worked in the garden. It's a lot of work to keep up a big garden like Regan and Jenny's, but so far they've been able to manage it.

Jenny needed some rest, being pregnant and all, so Regan headed to Yummy! on her own. It was only a few loyalty stars away from level five, so we wanted to get there and get the next perk for Regan.

And thanks to Kent Capp, who kindly gave us the final star, we made it!

Before we could head back home, there was a little bit of stuff to take care of. Such as the remaining customers.
Darren: *sobs* "He poked me!"
Dammit, Consort!
Consort: "What do you expect? I'm a grumpy old man."

Regan: "We certainly have groceries, mrs. Monty! Just let me get you away from the cash register and show you."
Darren: "Hellooo... I'm trying to pay for my groceries, here! I can't do that because someone is blocking the cash register!"

After Regan returned from her successful trip to Yummy!, the couple spent a quiet evening home, Jenny practicing her painting and Regan blogging about Nature.

After Jenny had to go to bed, Regan got to work out on the trampoline. Those body skill points that she's going to need for the Criminal career aren't going to build themselves.

In the night, Jenny again became more pregnant.

And again, because she was no longer tired, she went ahead and practiced painting. She managed to complete a painting, too.
Jenny: "Well, it's not exactly as I figured it out in my head but..."
But it'll do!

On Friday, Jenny tried to take it a little bit easy for the last day of her pregnancy.

Meanwhile, Regan worked in the garden as usual, and it paid off: she finally maximized the Nature hobby. Another goal for the DITFT done, and points galore!

With her Gold gardening badge, we also decided to purchase an orange tree. It's much easier taking care of those with the possibility to talk to them (and we will need to have all of the harvestables eventually). And talk Regan did.

During the day, cucumbers and strawberries got ready to be harvested, and in the evening Jenny was feeling good enough to help Regan with the work.

In the evening, the young couple had a little bit of time for themselves. And that was good, since some busy times were ahead!

That night, it was time for Jenny to have the baby. Regan was there, and I think she was relieved that it was Jenny and not her who was to give birth.

In the end, everything went well and Jenny gave birth to a healthy baby girl, who was immediately adored. Meet Reese Capp, the oldest of the second generation of Capps!

Jenny must be a very efficient Family sim. It was about five sim minutes after little Reese was taken care of and put in her crib for the night, when the new parents got to trying for the next one. Although, there was no lullaby this time.

In the morning, little Reese got something nicer to wear than just the diaper. The previews of the baby clothes are kinda hard to see in the game, so it's a bit hard to tell what you're buying or changing into, but otherwise it's all so very nice. And adorable.

It was a good thing it was Saturday so there was no work, since there were some household tasks to be done. Jenny pinched in by fixing the sink.

And meanwhile, Regan popped by to the Walmart, since the family was running low on food. I'm trying to avoid my usual habit of just buying a new fridge when that happens. Maybe it helps that now I have a mod that warns me a bit before (because I never remember to check the food level), and it doesn't come as a surprise that the fridge is empty when everybody in the household needs food RIGHT NOW. We'll see if that works.

Regan also stayed to buy some clothes for herself and Jenny, as their makeovers were still in complete in that they only had everyday and formalwear covered. Apparently Cassandra still finds Darren quite attractive in this neighborhood.

And Consort was again there to cause some trouble. Of course.

At home, there was a nice dinner to be had.
Regan: "Look, honey! I learned to make hamburgers!"
Jenny: "That's nice, dear."

And then there were other activities, too. (Whoops, I'll have to remember to actually plan those outfits on Jenny, too.) Apparently woohoo was a bit "risky" this time around, but I don't think Regan and Jenny will mind one bit.

In the morning, Jenny took the time to spend with her daughter.

Well, all the time she could, since she wasn't feeling too great!

While Reese was sleeping, Jenny joined Regan in the garden, which had just gotten a bit bigger. It was already Sunday, so we'd run out of time to grow all varieties of veggies and fruits this week, but some work could already be done towards it.

After a busy day, it was time for Reese's toddler birthday. Since working in the garden most of the day was pretty tiring, only the proud parents were present for the occasion.

And so little Reese Capp grew up into a beaming toddlerhood. She's a Virgo with the personality 10/1/10/3/9.

If I had been smart, I would've had Regan buy some toddler clothes when she was visiting Walmart last, but it turns out I'm kind of stupid.

But on the upside, it meant I got to see some interesting townie action while she was at it.

And then this happened. Kristen didn't seem to mind, and neither did Darren. The game was already on speed 3 as Regan was exiting the lot, but I just had time to see John got right back to flirting with Kristen.

So then little Reese got a makeover, too, and she's a real cutie. I see a lot of Regan in her, although I'll readily admit that I'm bad at seeing genetics.

Regan: "Is there anything else, or can we *yawn* go to bed now?"
No, not really. I've calculated the tax, so just take care of that and then you can go join Jenny.
Oh, in case you're wondering: I have a method for the taxes. I don't like the idea of the money just disappearing into thin air, so all the families send it to the Davidsons by money order. And there, where I don't want it to get mixed with the household funds, we put it to an account set up by Ajay. (I use christianlov's wallet token controller for that.)
I know that I'll have to have the money disappear into thin air eventually, when a university is actually earned, but having the money somewhere and then "spending" it feels more rewarding somehow.

So we were alllmost done with the week, and Regan got to catch some sleep next to her sweetheart.

Only Jenny woke up after a few hours and found that yes, she was pregnant again.

Well, that wasn't really bad, it only meant that she got to play with her daughter a bit before Monday morning hit.

And in the end, it did hit. So with this picture of adorable little Reese, we're done with the second part of week 2. Again, here's the score for the interested:
