Hello, and welcome to Lakewood! Lakewood is a new neighborhood by katrisims, and dedicated to the Build a City Challenge (BaCC), using the ruleset by clintcasey85, available at Boolprop. This is my very first published BaCC attempt, and I hope it will keep me interested.

I founded this challenge, because I already play and publish two, and obviously needed a third one. ... now that didn't sound right. No, seriously, that kind of is the reason. I play an Alphabet Legacy and an Apocalypse challenge, but the thing with those is that both are quite plot-driven these days, and tend to be slow to play and write. (As in, I update twice a year these days, if I'm lucky.) So this challenge is intended to give me something fun and relaxing to do whenever I'm not in the mood for Serious Plot – or am avoiding elder deaths, like now. So the premise of this challenge is: no plot! Hence the name, "Lakewood – Just a BaCC".

This challenge is not intended as a story, just as documentation and general sims babble by me. It'll contain a lot of pointless babble, breaking all kinds of walls, talking to my sims and whatever happens to please me at a given time. After a long time of doing things differently, I'll also attempt a type-as-I-play approach with this challenge. You have been warned.

But enough general babble. Let's meet the founder, shall we?

Lakewood_round1_003-600x375

Meet Lizzie Davidson, our foundress extraordinaire. Lizzie is a Fortune sim with the personality 4/4/4/7/6 (Aquarius). Her LTW is to Become World Class Ballet Dancer. Whether that will happen or not remains to be seen – after all, in the beginning all the careers are locked.

Lizzie: "What, you're not doing my LTW?"

I may, Lizzie, I may. Don't worry, there'll be plenty for you to be happy about in any case.

Lizzie is in fact a double founder. She not only founds the BaCC, but also a ten generation Legacy challenge, by the new rules. Because of course just doing a BaCC wouldn't be hard enough... No, really because I like challenges, and legacies in particular. In fact, some of the other families later moving into Lakewood may have their own sub-challenges as well. I first considered making it a rule that everyone must have their own challenge, but in the end decided against, as I don't want to force anything if I'm not feeling like a challenge for a particular family.

Anyway, the Davidsons will attempt the following handicaps:

Matriarchy (only females inherit)

Free-roaming ghosts (ghosts must be allowed to roam around the lot as they wish)

Storyteller (each generation's heir must write a novel, and I must document)

Aspiring to do it the hard way (no aspiration rewards) and by extension

One-way street (no elixir)

I'm playing for points (when am I not?), but I'll try to take it a little bit easy here. If a handicap gets broken, then it gets broken and we'll move on. On that same note, I'll be ignoring the Pets category, because I don't particularly like breeding pets. The family might get a pet if I feel like it, but points-wise I'm ignoring pets completely.

Lakewood_round1_004-600x375

Well, let's get started then! This is the lovely shack Lizzie was able to afford after most of her money was sucked off by the fruit-bearing tree required to score points in the Seasons category. She's got 160 simoleans in the bank. Lizzie, go get a book from the bookcase and then let's sell the bookcase, so maybe you'll afford a stove!

Lakewood_round1_005-600x375

The lovely interiors. After selling the bookcase, we were 40 simoleans short of a stove. Sorry, Lizzie!

Lakewood_round1_006-600x375

After a bit of cooking skill, it was time to get to actual work: digging. Lizzie's going to need to buy a business and she's got to finance it somehow.

Lakewood_round1_009-600x375

In the afternoon, we got our first actual walkby, Miranda Capp. (The braggart Garden Club lady doesn't count.) For some of you she may ring a bell. Yes indeed, she's actually a Maxis playable sim from Veronaville. That's another thing about this challenge: my townies are Maxis premades. Yes, I'm aware that it's been done and probably overdone too, but since I rarely do anything with premades and have seen other people have fun with them, I thought I'd kill two birds with one stone.

Lizzie: "Finally someone to talk to! I hope she's nicer than the Garden Club lady!"

I'm starting with all the premades from Pleasantview, Strangetown and Veronaville. I'm planning to add more townies as I unlock neighborhood additions. Everyone has the same aspiration that Maxis gave them, and the same personality points (not necessarily the same astrological sign, though). They're also in the same age as they are in the premade 'hoods, with two exceptions: Beau Broke and Ariel Capp. I don't know if toddler townies would be technically possible, but at least they would be pointless. So those two are children. None of these sims have their relationships or memories, they'll have to build new ones here, from scratch.

Lakewood_round1_010-600x375

Lizzie and Miranda got along pretty well. Or maybe Lizzie was bored enough to listen politely. After that: more digging.

Lakewood_round1_011-600x375

Albany Capp came to steal our newspaper in the evening, but Lizzie was busy taking a shower (well-earned!) and didn't know a thing.

Lakewood_round1_012-600x375

Apparently Lizzie is into Nature. She found out by pulling the weeds that sprouted from the water spraying all over from the hole she dug. It must be thrilling.

Lakewood_round1_013-600x375

The next morning. Guess what you're doing today, Lizzie?

Lizzie: "... digging?"

You guessed it.

Lakewood_round1_015-600x375

By the afternoon, Lizzie's saldo was four rocks, eight bones, three maps, one gnome, one chicken, one dragon, one frog and one treasure chest.

"Wow, all that stuff was buried in my yard?"

That and more, Lizzie, that and more. Now go take a shower, I'll sell this stuff for you and make a plan of action.

With the stuff she found, Lizzie made a pretty nice 7,828 simoleans.

Lakewood_round1_017-600x375

Plan of action: Lizzie took a short break studying Mechanical and gaining some aspiration, then it was back to digging. Unfortunately, she wasn't quite able to afford a small business.

Lakewood_round1_019-600x375

In Wednesday morning's light, we examined what Lizzie had found the previous night: three rocks, two bones, one map, one rooster, one toucan (that's what the description said it was) and one fancy urn. Getting close but still not quite there.

Lakewood_round1_020-600x375

During Wednesday forenoon, two new interesting faces showed up: Pollination Tech#9 Smith and Antonio Monty.

Lakewood_round1_021-600x375

Antonio seemed a nice enough fellow, only he seems to like talking about food, which Lizzie couldn't care less about. That's actually the case with several of the townies here.

Lakewood_round1_022-600x375

While Lizzie continued her digging, the two guests socialized with each other. Well, actually, mostly PT#9 jumped rope while Antonio tried to interact with him. But they did share the socialite greeting, so they were alright.

Lakewood_round1_023-600x375

As for PT#9, he seems to be a rather charming man. Lizzie definitely thought so.

Lizzie: "Well, I do like him. He seems a nice fellow."

They have two bolts. (Lizzie randomized straight on ACR. Once I remembered to actually run the randomizer. Ahem.)

Lakewood_round1_025-600x375

After the guests left, we checked Lizzies inventory again. More rocks, one BIG rock, two more maps and a scary looking "doll". Well, it looks like sticks and stones can buy you a business, if you just have enough of them. Lizzie was now able to buy her first business. Barely. So of course, she promptly did.

Now Lizzie, you can just walk there and...

Lizzie: "Wait, there's someone coming!"

Lakewood_round1_028-600x375

Lizzie: Sommmmmeonnnnne toooo taaaaaaaaaaaalllllk tooooo! I've been digging waaayyy too long!

Lakewood_round1_029-600x375

Oberon Summerdream: "Hello, I'm Oberon. Nice to meet you."

Lizzie: "Nice to meet you too. I'm really glad to have someone other than my shovel to talk to."

Oberon: "...?"

Lizzie: "Challenge founder."

Oberon: "Ah, I see. Making money the hard way?"

Lizzie: "Yes, very."

Lakewood_round1_030-600x375

We decided Lizzie's social needs were more important than getting started with the business for the moment. Besides, it was already late afternoon and Lizzie would get tired soon enough. She and Oberon seemed to get along pretty well. They didn't always have commont topics of conversation, but they liked complimenting each other and hanging out.

Lakewood_round1_032-600x375

Oberon: "So you're planning to found a college for Lakewood, huh?"

Lizzie: "Well, that's what the lady behind the keyboard says, and well, since there isn't one yet, I suppose it would be nice if my kids could attend one. I mean, when I have those. It does take a lot of money though, a million sounds pretty incomprehensible."

Oberon: "A million? Seriously?"

Lizzie: "Yeah. I don't know if I can do it, but the lady behind the keyboard says she'll do her best to help. And well, I don't object. I like making money."

Lakewood_round1_033-600x375

Lizzie: "Okay, I don't wanna be rude or anything, but it's getting late and I should get ready for bed. Big day tomorrow."

Oberon: "Oh yes, the grand opening. Well, I hope it goes well. I might pop by at some point."

Lizzie: "Please do! I'd be really glad. I suppose see you there, maybe."

Oberon: "See you, and good night."

Lakewood_round1_034-600x375

Welcome to Lakewood Recreation Center! Since the newly founded town doesn't have literally any necessities, me and Lizzie were of the opinion that the first thing that it needs is simply a place for the residents to get together and spend some time getting to know each other.

Besides, I was of the opinion that with a founder, who has practically no skills, a venue would be the easiest to manage at first.

Lizzie: "It's not much, but we'll improve it when I have a little more to my name than 120 simoleans."

Lakewood_round1_039-600x375

Our first actual customer (one that we persuaded to buy a ticket) was John Burb, who promptly stopped on his way to the ticket machine and noted that Lizzie was hot.

Lakewood_round1_043-600x375

We had a bit of trouble at first getting the customers to stay, but eventually some managed to lure themselves to our fun objects, so Lizzie could take a well deserved break.

Lakewood_round1_044-600x375

As a consequence, by the evening Lizzie could afford a cheap tent to put in one corner of the lot. Now she has all the necessities and can in principle stay indefinitely. ...which might be how long we need her to stay, at this rate anyway.

Lizzie: *yawn* "No complaints. That tent might actually be more comfortable than my bed right now."

Lakewood_round1_045-600x375

In the morning it was back to business. It's fun just looking at who decides to show up. And all the while Lizzie practices her sales.

Lakewood_round1_048-600x375

Thanks, Nina, for making hot dogs and not causing a fire.

Nina: "No problem. I thought you wanted fires in this challenge?"

Well technically yes, but it has to be by a playable sim or it doesn't count.

Nina: "Oh."

Lakewood_round1_049-600x375

Daniel: "It's fun meeting all these new sims. I really enjoyed meeting the lady who made the hot dogs. Where'd she go?"

Lizzie: "Sorry, Daniel. I think Nina just made them and left."

Daniel: "That's too bad."

Lizzie: "Yeah. But you know, that just means you should come again... she might, too!"

Lakewood_round1_053-600x375

Soon enough Lizzie learned to dazzle, a pretty essential skill for a smart business woman like her. She tried it on Consort Capp, and he was very into it. As was Patrizio Monty.

Lakewood_round1_055-600x375

In fact, the two of them lured themselves to the chess table and spent hours playing together. I wouldn't be surprised if they were friends by now.

Consort: "You know Patrizio, this is really fun, I really like playing with you, but somehow... I don't know, somehow I have the feeling that we really shouldn't like each other. I mean, that we wouldn't be the type to get along."

Lakewood_round1_056-600x375

Patrizio: "Nonsense, Consort! Look at how much we have in common. In fact, I'm having so much fun that I'm giving this business a gold star."

Our first star! That's where it starts, Lizzie! And aww, I already like these two.

Lakewood_round1_057-600x375

Lizzie's typical day: Get up, take care of needs, open shop. Dazzle customers in, check that they can amuse themselves, then go dig for treasure for extra money (in a separated area, so it doesn't tank Environment for the customers). Eat hot dogs for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Rinse and repeat, close business, sleep in tent.

Lakewood_round1_061-600x375

In this neighborhood, the reporter is quite easy to spot, since I've hand-made all the townies. He seems to have a positive attitude towards the business, but it's tricky to get him to stay long enough to actively like it.

Lakewood_round1_065-600x375
But, eventually Lizzie succeeded, and we got a good review out of it!

Lizzie: "Does this mean more money for us?"

One can only hope, Lizzie, but I'd think so.

Lakewood_round1_063-600x375

The sales in general were slowly improving, so we upgraded the lot with a couple of swings...

Lakewood_round1_068-600x375

... and a hot tub! No one can resist a hot tub, right?

Lakewood_round1_073-600x375

Not everyone always falls for the dazzle.

Jenny: "Seriously? You think I'll fall for that?"

Lakewood_round1_075-600x375

But most of the time, most sims do! And that's a good thing for Lizzie.

I have a hack to remove the energy drain from the dazzle. Some would perhaps consider it cheaty, but as it makes the whole interaction almost useless, I consider the drain annoying.

Lakewood_round1_082-600x375

Lizzie: "Oberon! You came!"

Oberon: "Can't... resist... the dazzle..."

Lakewood_round1_083-600x375

And the award for the first townie couple in Lakewood goes to... Nervous Subject and Pascal Curious!

Funnily enough, the hot tub has been less of an attraction than I would have thought so far, but pretty much the second Nervous and Pascal decided they wanted to woohoo in it, I've got like five sims footstomping because they can't get in the tub. Including Lizzie. *eyeroll*

Lakewood_round1_085-600x375

Once we could updgrade a little bit and have started to have more customers, the business has been improving steadily, both in cash flow and in customer opinion. At this point, the tickets are 150 simoleans and we're considering a raise of prices. Regan here gives us the last star needed to get to level five.

Lakewood_round1_088-600x375

And she's not the only one who likes it, either. The reporter visits us, and we get the Best of the Best Award! Woo!

Lakewood_round1_089-600x375

We promptly put it on display, of course.

Lakewood_round1_091-600x375

Lizzie: "I'm kind of liking running my own business. I've made 50,000 simoleans already!"

Well, it's good that you like it, since this is only the beginning!

Lakewood_round1_094-600x375

A funny side-effect of a business like Lizzie's is that townies might get logical.

Lakewood_round1_095-600x375

Very logical indeed.

(I also have a community lot skilling hack.)

Lakewood_round1_096-600x375

Lizzie: "Ajay, you know I've been pretty preoccupied with the business, but I wanted to let you know that you're really attractive."

Ajay: "Well thanks, I guess."

Another one having two bolts with Lizzie.

Lakewood_round1_098-600x375

Business tip: if you manage to sell a witch/warlock a ticket to your venue and then lure them to do something fun, they'll stay indefinitely if nothing disrupts them. That's what I did with the local good witch.

Lakewood_round1_100-600x375

As for the evil warlock... As it happens, Lizzie was just busy eating a hot dog and couldn't sell a ticket so he could summon rain or roaches. *ahem*

Lakewood_round1_103-600x375

Our second townie romance: John Burb and Erin Singles. John has two bolts with Lizzie too, but possibly he was more interested in someone less preoccuppied.

Lakewood_round1_104-600x375

There also seems to be something going on between Jennifer Burb and Cornwall Capp.

Lakewood_round1_106-600x375

There also seems to be something going on between one of the garden lamps and a lightning bolt!

Lizzie: *panics*

Lakewood_round1_107-600x375

Lizzie: "Phew."

Me: Dammit, it didn't even count!

Lakewood_round1_108-600x375

Apparently, it's possible to get two Best of the Best Awards for the same business. Because Lizzie just did! The reporter really likes this place.

Lakewood_round1_110-600x375

Looking at Ajay being attractive, Lizzie?

Lizzie: "No, actually. I just made 100,000 simoleans. I'm surprised at how quick it was."

Wow. Congratulations!

Lizzie: "Thanks. But I suppose we're not done yet?"

No, not done yet. This is only the beginning.

So Lizzie earns her first full Legacy point, by scoring an impossible want. Not a bad start!

Lakewood_round1_116-600x375

Lizzie: "Why am I drinking coffee? Why am I so tired all of the sudden?"

Sorry about that Lizzie. That'd be the dazzling.

"Dazzling? But I thought you said..."

I know. But you remember the glitching that's been going on with the ticket machine?

Lizzie: "You mean where I can't sell tickets because the interactions glitch out, and sometimes the machine resets itself to the 'average' price? No I don't think I remember that at all, it's only forcing me to close and re-open the business when it's the least covenient for me!"

Thought so. Well, I'm quite sure that's a hack problem, so I'm quaranteening different hacks to locate the issue. And that one happens to be the current suspect. I'm almost regretting the no aspiration rewards handicap right now, but try to hang on, ok?

As it turns out, the problem was not the hack that removes the dazzle energy drain. Just as I was becoming sure that it was, the problem repeated again. I don't have it pinned down on a single hack as of writing this, but I think I may have it cornered, as I haven't seen the issue for a bit.

Lakewood_round1_121-600x375

To summarize the happenings after that, the business grew steadily, and as we were on level eight already, we decided to raise prises again. After all, the main goals for this business were to reach level ten, but also to raise a million simoleans to found the first college in town. Reaching level ten would help Lizzie's legacy score points in the future, but also open a spot in the Business career. So from level eight on, we raised the prise of a ticket to 999 simoleans, and that's when the full steam went on.

We had a lot of customers, and also the reporter came again to be cheated at chess by Circe. He gave us a total of two Good Reviews and a three Best of the Best Awards. It seems that another hack, one that helps the reporter come back after visiting once, also works.

Lakewood_round1_118-600x375

There may have been a few occasions when some sims didn't play nicely all the time, but nothing that would have escalated into actual brawls.

Lakewood_round1_126-600x375

And there were some minor injuries, but really, Lola doesn't care about her chess arm when she can soak in the hot tub.

Lakewood_round1_127-600x375

And of course, not everyone loved the business, but that was fortunately not a problem for us.

Fine, Loki, if you don't want a ticket that's fine, I know several others who are dying to get one!

If you're looking for a business/BaCC tip, here's mine: make enough townies! I've made the mistake of starting too few townies before. The result was that it was extremely hard to get a business to level 10, because I could only get customers that already loved it and couldn't gain any more stars, and those one or two grumps who hated it would either not accept any sales or not show up at all.

So really, if you have too few townies, that one grump who hates your store can really block your way! But fortunately, in this 'hood that's not a problem. Bye Loki!

Lakewood_round1_130-600x375

I really tried hard to pay attention to who gave us the last star needed for level ten, but it was night time and the game was on speed 3 as Lizzie was asleep, so I missed it. (On the later levels, we frequently left the business open for the night.) At that point, the funds were past 800,000 simoleans, so at that speed, it'd only take a couple more days to get to one million. Lizzie, did you see who gave us the last star?

Lizzie: *snore*

Lakewood_round1_131-600x375

Lizzie has been quite busy running her business, but in the meanwhile, she's also made friends from the fellow inhabitants of Lakewood.

Daniel Pleasant: "Here you are, digging as hard as ever. That isn't quite as lucrative as running this place, is it?"

Lizzie: "No, but this money is for me, while the money from the business is for the university. I still don't have even a proper house back at home, and Katri says I can keep the stuff from digging."

Daniel: "Oh, right. Well, I was only coming to say that I need to get going, but I'll see you soon again. You're almost done here right?"

Lizzie: "Yeah, if it keeps going like it's been going, it'll be like a day, a day and a half. Then I'll go home and work on the house. And get that college founded, of course."

Daniel: "That sounds great! Well, I really should get going, but let me know how it goes!"

Lizzie: "I will."

Lakewood_round1_134-600x375

Lizzie was right. A day and a half later, when she woke up in the morning, she checked the funds and noticed they were at one million simoleans and some twenty thousand over. It was time to close the business and get started on her home life.

Lakewood_round1_135-600x375

Jenny, Vidcund! Get out of the tub, this business is closed!

Jenny & Vidcund: "We're having an interesting discussion!"

Fine, Lizzie needs a shower anyway. But after that, you really need to go, she's got stuff to do.

Lakewood_round1_137-600x375

After shooing out the lingering guests, Lizzie went home and had a look at what she'd managed to dig up from the ground. Lots of sticks and stones, but also some more pricey stuff, like the two treasure chests that she dug up almost back to back during her last few days. All in all, after founding the college, she'd have over 60,000 simoleans to her name. Not bad, Lizzie.

Lizzie: "As a Fortune sim, it feels kind of bad to give away all that money... But it's for a worthy cause."

That's my girl. Now let's go and found that college! Any wishes on naming it?

Lizzie: "... not really."

Okay. Well, how about "The Lizzie Davidson College"?

Lizzie: *blushes* "Kind of embarassing actually."

Well don't be shy, Lizzie! You've worked hard, you deserve to have your name in the history of Lakewood!

Lizzie: "Well I suppose that's ok. You're the boss."

Ok. You know you also get to decide who gets to enroll, right?

Lizzie: "Oh, right. Well in that case... I just want it to be fair. It should be based on talent, any kind of talent. And I want it to be for those who really want it."

That makes sense. Let's put it this way, then:

In order to enroll in the Lizzie Davidson College (LDC for short), a teenager must:

- have rolled the want to go to college

- have gained the scholarship for good grades

AND

- have gained at least three other scholarships

Does that sound fair to you, Lizzie?

Lizzie: "Yes, I like that. Let's make it like that."

Done and done. Congratulations, Lizzie! You just founded the first college of Lakewood, The Lizzie Davidson College, with the above mentioned admittance rules. That ups our Sim Multiplier by five points, and also earns us five playable sims! Also, the fact that you reached level 10 with your business has opened a position in the Business career, and for your Legacy, it starts gaining points as the Family Business. Well done!

Lakewood_round1_144-600x375

So now we've founded the college. It'll likely have to wait for a bit to be developed: currently there's no one who would be going, but it's nice to know that Lizzie's children and all others coming after will have the chance if they wish. But for now, we have more important stuff to do. Like building Lizzie a well-deserved house.

Lakewood_round1_145-600x375

It's not huge, but I'd say it's pretty nice for a Legacy founder's house on the first week's Thursday. (Yes, Lizzie must have spent closer to a month at the Recreation Center, but at home, it's still Thursday.) This is the living room, as you can probably tell. Let's take a bit of a tour, shall we?

Lakewood_round1_146-600x375

The bedroom, with lots of red, Lizzie's favorite color.

Lakewood_round1_147-600x375

The bathroom.

Lakewood_round1_148-600x375

And the kitchen. And that's it for the moment. Not enough for a huge family, but for now it's quite enough, and it leaves some money in the bank, so we don't have to panic about taxes on Sunday.

Lakewood_round1_149-600x375

So Lizzie, now that you have a house and everything, what are you up to?

Lizzie: "I've been working for the last month or so with almost no breaks. I'm gonna invite company over and do something fun and relaxing!"

Lakewood_round1_150-600x375

Lizzie's "company" appears to be none other than Ajay Loner, and as her first order of business, Lizzie heartily approves of him.

So yes, I've been quietly spouse-hunting on the side. Lizzie has three two-bolt matches in the 'hood: Ajay, PT#9 and John Burb. Out of the three, PT seemed perhaps the most interested in Lizzie initially, after all he flirted with her like two seconds after being greeted. But I wasn't sure about Lizzie's side, and besides, he's an elder and I like him a lot. I wouldn't want to deal with his death anytime soon, and aging him down for this challenge would have felt like cheating. As for John, he's seemed more interested in Kristen Singles than Lizzie. And Ajay? Well, I don't really know yet. Lizzie's expressed multiple times that she finds him attractive, but since she's been working on her business primarily, she hasn't had that much time to think about romance. So we'll see.

Lakewood_round1_151-600x375

Lizzie: "Hi Ajay. Good to see you."

Ajay: "Hi there. Thanks for inviting me. So I hear you're done with the college project?"

Lizzie: "Yeah, that one is finally done. And now I've got some time for other things. Like inviting friends over."

Ajay: "I like that. Oh, and you've got a nice house, too."

Lizzie: "Yeah, a kind of a side product of the college project. Wanna go inside and see for yourself?"

Ajay: "I'd love to."

Lakewood_round1_152-600x375

As I'd suspected, once given a proper chance, Lizzie and Ajay didn't waste time in getting romantic.

Lakewood_round1_154-600x375

No, not much time at all.

Lizzie: "Do you mind?"

Going!

Lakewood_round1_155-600x375

Lizzie: "I really like you, Ajay."

Ajay: "Me too. ... I mean, I really like you too."

Lizzie: *laughs* "I know it's getting late, but what'd you think about, like, an actual date?"

Ajay: "Sounds great. I'm not in a hurry, you know."

Lakewood_round1_159-600x375

Well. Let's just say that the date went well.

Lakewood_round1_162-600x375

Quite well indeed.

Lakewood_round1_163-600x375

It was kind of soon maybe, but both Lizzie and Ajay felt confident and happy. They came along great, and had nice chemistry. Besides, they'd known each other for a while, even though Lizzie had been busy with the business. So they took a chance. Lizzie asked Ajay to move in with her, and he said yes.

Lakewood_round1_164-600x375

So Ajay moved in and brought 10,000 simoleans with him. Like Lizzie, Ajay is a Fortune sim, and his personality is 6/7/4/3/5 (Aries).* He had a job in the Culinary career, which he had to quit because it's not unlocked yet. But that's okay, it's not really what he wants to do, anyway. Ajay's LTW is to Become a Rock God. Ajay originates as a bin sim from Strangetown.

*The original Ajay is in fact a Gemini, but I have not reproduced the sign/personality mismatches of the original sims. Nor have I given anyone recessive genetics, even though some of the Maxis originals have them.

The next morning, the legacy tree needed some attention again, so Lizzie got right to it. So, Lizzie, what should we do today?

Lizzie: "Well, if you wanna help, you could spend some of the money Ajay brought with him to get us some garden plots and accessories. It'd be easier with the tree if we had some actual gardening skills. Meanwhile, I think Ajay said he wants to go on another date."

Alright, sounds like a plan. You've worked hard on the business and deserve a break from that.

Lizzie: "That's what I thought. Thanks."

Lakewood_round1_171-600x375

Lakewood_round1_172-600x375

The date went very well, Lizzie and Ajay clearly come along and have a lot of fun together.

Lakewood_round1_174-600x375

And then there's also the fact that they're very, very drawn together. They spent a lot of the day woohoing their brains out. Because well, they were on a date and wanted to.

Of course, the date wasn't solely so Lizzie and Ajay could woohoo their brains out and score a lot of aspiration points from it. It was also because dating happens to be a good way to poke at Wants panels.

And I happen to be all about poking at Wants panels.

Lakewood_round1_182-600x375

Lakewood_round1_183-600x375

Because, what's better than mutual, locked engagement wants (on non-Family sims, even)?

Lakewood_round1_186-600x375

Nothing. Well, one thing. Mutual, locked marriage wants!

The wedding had to wait for the next day, though. Because of all the woohoo, Lizzie and Ajay were kinda exhausted.

Lakewood_round1_190-600x375

Lizzie: "So are you ready?"

Ajay: "You bet!"

Lizzie: "Alright then, let's do this. You go get changed, I'll make the phone call. I also happen to want a party for it."

Lakewood_round1_192-600x375

So wedding party time it was. An assortment of friends came over, and it seems everyone had a good time.

Lakewood_round1_194-600x375

It didn't matter that the background for the wedding was the newly built garden plots and some equipment.

Lakewood_round1_196-600x375

It didn't matter that only two of the guests actually made it for the ceremony and one of them barely.

Lakewood_round1_197-600x375

It only mattered that Lizzie and Ajay were now officially married. And over the moon about it.

Lakewood_round1_201-600x375

Cutting the cake was the next important thing of course.

Ajay: "Honey, please don't stuff the cake into my ear!"

Lakewood_round1_203-600x375

Cake was delicious, when eaten the correct way.

Lakewood_round1_205-600x375

And it was good to spend time with friends.

Lakewood_round1_206-600x375

Some of them showed us the newest dance moves, too.

(I had a great time looking at this, actually. I'd forgotten how things look in a neighborhood without the vacation destinations, when it's not just slapdance all over.)

Lakewood_round1_207-600x375

There was a bit of romance in the air, too.

Lakewood_round1_209-600x375

All in all, a pretty good party don't you think, Lizzie?

Lizzie: "Not just 'pretty good'. It was a roof raiser!"

Cool, so you clearly know how to party. Anyway, now you're married. So now what?

Lakewood_round1_211-600x375

Oh, right. Forget I asked. Going now!

Lizzie and Ajay: "Good!"

Lakewood_round1_216-600x375

There was still one day left in the rotation, Sunday, and we had a couple of things we wanted to accomplish. Lizzie started working on her gardening skills so that taking care of the legacy tree would be easier later. It didn't make sense to actually plant anything, since it was winter although not that cold, but at least she got to do some fertilizing for the spring.

Lakewood_round1_218-600x375

She also started on her bug collection. Maybe she can complete it for the family and gain a legacy point for it. And of course, seeing that Nature is her One True Hobby, it'd be nice if she could make it the Family Hobby.

Lakewood_round1_219-600x375

Meanwhile, Ajay worked on his painting. He was already pretty high in creativity, so later he could do some portrait work for the family. And since he wants to be a Rock God, it doesn't hurt to work on creativity for that either.

Lakewood_round1_222-600x375

In the afternoon, it was time to invite a couple of friends over.

Regan Capp: "Good to see you, Lizzie!"

Lizzie: "Great to see you too, Regan."

Regan: "I brought Cornwall with me, I hope it's ok?"

Lizzie: "Sure, no problem! There'll be plenty of sandwiches for him too, and really the more the merrier. I do need to talk to you, just you, though."

Regan: "Sure thing."

Lakewood_round1_223-600x375

Lizzie: "Great that you could make it, Pascal!"

Pascal Curious: "Of course, I wouldn't not show up for the world!"

Lakewood_round1_224-600x375

While the hosts were busy making everyone some grilled cheese sandwiches, the guests helped themselves to the stereo.

Lakewood_round1_225-600x375

Lizzie: "... so that's what we've been up to, and that's the whole idea, to make this little town into a city."

Pascal: "That's interesting. A kind of a scientific experiment, or almost."

Ajay: "I suppose, if you want to see it that way."

Lizzie: "So that's why I actually invited you over today. I need to talk to you, Regan and Pascal."

Ajay: "Cornwall, shall we go watch some tv after I've cleared the plates?"

Lakewood_round1_228-600x375

Lizzie: "So yeah. You could have your own challenge if you like, maybe have a shot at your LTW, all that. And of course, my angle here is that you'd be helping me with my challenge."

Regan: "Well, that sounds kind of fun. I suppose it beats being a townie forever and ever. Why not."

Lizzie: "Alright, if you're willing, then for starters you'd move in here."

Lakewood_round1_229-600x375

Regan: "Okay, let's do this."

Lizzie: "Thanks, I knew you'd help me out!"

Lakewood_round1_230-600x375

Regan moved in, bringing with her 1000 simoleans. Or not, because I kind of think when they "bring 1000 simoleans", they don't actually bring anything. Well, she wasn't moved in for money so it doesn't matter anyway. Nor was she going to stay long.

Lakewood_round1_232-600x375

Lizzie: "Yoohoo!"

Yes, Lizzie?

Lakewood_round1_233-600x375

Lizzie: "Seems like someone else is going to join us, too."

That's what I thought. Congratulations! And don't worry, Regan and Pascal will be long gone before your baby makes an appearence. Now go talk to Pascal!

Lakewood_round1_234-600x375

Unfortunately, Pascal didn't share our enthusiasm.

Pascal: "Lizzie, I'm... I'm sorry. I'm not sure this is a good idea. It's a pretty big step you know?"

Lizzie: "Aww. I thought it would be fun for you."

Pascal: "I know, and I'm sorry. I just need some time to get my head straight, ok?"

Lakewood_round1_235-600x375

Lizzie: "It's ok, Pascal. Take the time you need, and if you still don't want to, I understand."

Pascal: "Thank you. I knew you'd understand where I'm coming from."

Lizzie: "Still friends?"

Pascal: "Of course!"

Lakewood_round1_236-600x375

Meanwhile, Ajay had managed to finish his painting, and sold it for a whopping 74 simoleans.

Ajay: "Yeah, it was pretty lousy..."

Oh Ajay, I'm so sorry! I didn't realize you had the fear, and I didn't realize 74 simoleans would count as "lousy"! Don't worry though, you'll get to paint lots more next week if you'd like, and I'm sure you'll get more money for them too.

Lakewood_round1_239-600x375

Lizzie, wakey wakey. Aren't you gonna say goodbye to Regan? She's just heading for the cab.

Lizzie: "... whuh?"

Nevermind. Just try to shovel in some pork chops and go to sleep, we don't want you to starve. Or pass out. I'm sure Regan will understand.

Lakewood_round1_240-600x375

Alright, Regan, out you go. Thanks for agreeing to do this.

Regan: "No problem. And I wouldn't worry about Pascal. Surely he'll come around."

I know. I would have liked to have three households this rotation, but it's ok. We'll persuade him a little.

Regan: "Yeah. And now that I'm moving out, the rotation isn't over yet, right?"

That's true. You'll be getting your week right away, so there's still time. Anyway, see you very soon!

Regan: "Yeah, see you."

Lakewood_round1_242-600x375

And with Lizzie and Ajay finally off to bed, this concludes their first week! In case you're interested, here are the current BaCC stats:

I'm really enjoying this. It's fun and kind of relaxing. I like to start at the beginning when I can so I can make sense of what's happening so I can pick up with your current posts. I really like your writing style.

Wow, that was quite a week. She did really well, and I never thought about just making it so I could stay on the lot and earn a lot of money that way. Great job with it! Adding this to my list of things to read. :)

Hi, and welcome aboard! :)

Yeah that was some week. :D I think I stole the idea of staying in a business indefinitely and eventually (when you have enough stars) charging huge sums for tickets from Lorinsv's Mesa Vista. It's a handy way to earn a university early on, although it is of course a chunk of work to run the business for long enough.

Thanks for reading and commenting, I hope you'll enjoy the rest of the challenge! :)
